Q1 Passenger Plug-In Electric Car Registrations In Europe – By Country

Passenger plug-in electric car sales in Europe – European Union and EFTA (Norway + Switzerland) – increased during the first quarter of 2018 by a healthy 40.9% to 88,329.

Market share for plug-ins now average roughly 2.0%

Sales split nearly ideally 50/50 between BEVs and PHEVs:

  • PHEV – 44,744 (up 47.2%)
  • BEVs – 43,585 (up 35.0%)

Four countries noted more than 10,000 new registrations and Germany, thanks to high pace of growth, took first place in Europe.

  • Germany – 17,574 (up ≈70%)
  • Norway – 16,182 (up ≈20%)
  • UK – 14,162 (up ≈11%)
  • France – 10,908 (up ≈17%)

The market remains inconsistent, as four countries accounted for 66.6% of all plug-in registrations.

Maybe prepared for current quarter and year to date. Naturally identical in first 3 months – my guess.

Pretty obvious that Spain is the one marking the step in the new electric paradigm. So frustrating…

Do you have any numbers for market share EV of total cars? That would be interesting.

Where do you place Iceland? Iceland is EFTA contry?

Europe is selling more plug-in electric car and groing fastar than US in 2018?
