Long-range, all-wheel-drive version will be first

Tesla Model 3 will be launched in China within 5 months, by the end of the first quarter of 2019 or, more specifically, in March, according to the latest reports that confirm the Model 3’s arrival in the world’s biggest EV market.

Tesla is expected to deliver the Long-Range all-wheel-drive versions (normal and Performance) at first, which sounds reasonable from a business perspective.

Because of the 40% import tax, costs of delivery and probably lack of subsidies for U.S. made cars, those initial Model 3s will not be able to fully compete with the broader offering of Chinese electric cars. That’s precisely why Tesla is building a production facility in China. Once complete, that import tax will vanish, thus making the Model 3 more competitive there.

I wonder if it’s going to difficult to purchase a M3 in the US for a while due to all the cars being built in the US factory.

There accepting more orders until the end of November to be delivered by December 31,2018.

I’m sure if the Trump didn’t start the tarriff war. Tesla would have been selling like crazy in Chins. XI lowered the auto tarriff to 15% agreed, to purchase 100 billion more from the US and crack down on intellectual property. Trump could have declared a win, instead he escalated the problem.
I’m surprised that Tesla can sell any EV’s in China but I think Tesla and Musk have a lot of respect from the Chinese people and the government.

Well, not to defend Trump, but he has two major anti-China trade advisor that advocate for trade wars. One of them is named Peter…

Well that’s assuming he listens to Peter or anyone. I suspect Trump uses his bluster to appease his base making him look tough. While the rest of the world looks at Trump and thinks he’s clueless. Remember Trump said Trade Wars are easy to win.
I’m sure Trump got anti-China advisors because it matches his thinking.
He couldn’t have had a win in May so whatever he gets now won’t match the damage already caused.

Chines sold Model 3 will be made in China. hopefully the Chinese factory will export them to Australia, soon…

Is it coming with CCS, GB/T or both?
