Watch Tesla Model S P100D Race Lamborghini Aventador S: Video

Mighty Model S versus Lambo.

Or, family sedan versus supercar.

Hmm…maybe electric versus gas instead?

This matchup pits the top-line Tesla Model S, the P100D, against the Lamborghini Aventador S. On paper, the Model S has the HP edge, but the Aventador is certainly no slouch.

Recently, we saw this same Aventador take down the Tesla Model X P100D SUV, but we all know the Model S is faster. So, which car will prevail this time around? Will it be the Tesla on top? Or will the Lamborghini capture another win?

Do note there are three distinct challenges here. One is the standing quarter mile. The second is a rolling race to 110 MPH. Lastly, there’s a braking test. The Model S does win at least one of the challenges. But which one or more is it?  Let’s watch and find out.

This is it… The ultimate petrol vs electric showdown!

Yianni from Yiannimize is back with his Lamborghini Aventador S, and it’s going up against the Tesla Model S P100D!

Last time out the Aventador took down the Model X P100D thanks to its 6.5-litre V12 that can produce 640hp… But given the Model S P100D can produce 680hp, is petrol power still going to prevail?

There’s only one way to find out… Let’s race!

I hope Lambo jump into EV sometime, their cars are so s3xy

So a $125k Tesla beats the $417k Lamborghini in the 0-60 race which is the only one the urban cowboys that live for this are going to do.

Let’s see how this works out with the Roadster 2

At least the two of those are priced closer together! (Lambo Aventador S vs Roadster 2)

The P100D DOES NOT produce 680 hp! It can only pull about 590 hp max from the battery at full charge.
Brooks from DragTimes, seems to be the only one who ever gets this right.

Regarding horsepower, it’s a silly measurement in my book. Yes, it multiplies torque X RPM and so highlights the ability of a high-revving engine to use Gearing to produce more power. But it’s still a bad measurement. What matters is power (or better yet, torque) throughout the RPM range. And electric engines deliver MAX torque throughout their RPM. The Lamb’s 640 Hp is a crap measurement. It only makes that in one tiny window of 100-200 RPM. Otherwise, it drops off huge all the way down to idle. Let’s measure the Torque of both machines throughout RPM. The electric machine kills the ICE. That’s why a 5000 pound Tesla can run with a 3300 pound ICE car. Once Battery breakthroughs happen (they are coming), the Lambo will be an old memory. Great looking machine, but just an old memory. Lambo’s will go electric. Everybody will.

Can you imagine the future? The Tesla weighs 5000 pounds. That’s right, a whopping 5000. The Lambo probably weighs 3300. So, put 8, that’s right EIGHT, 200 pound guys in the Lambo, and race again. Does that make it clear how much torque the Tesla has?? So, what will happen when we have a battery breakthrough (several are coming) and the Tesla weighs 1500-1700 pounds less? Ya, the future of electric cars will EAT EVERY ICE machine made. I have loved gasoline engines. They have been my entertainment for my entire life. But I now know it; they are absolutely dead. Electric cars are going to make wicked jumps in performance, and the ICE machines will be dinosaurs. A distant memory of old days gone by. And good riddance. I never need to work on an engine again. I get to just race. 🙂

That’s a good way to put it, regarding adding 8 heavy occupants. What’s crazy is the battery breakthrough you speak of WILL happen, it’s just a matter of when. And honestly, it’s really just the last nail in the ICE coffin. ICE is so close to that impending inevitability and have no clue what’s about to happen..

Drag race, haven’t seen one of these in the last 24h. Maybe you could have them race on a track for a change?

Relax young grasshopper, soon enough..

Daily Express readers and true PetrolHeads will choose the Lambo – Guardian readers will choose the tesla

It would be nice to see the results of the contests in a table form.
