BMW’s iX3 Gets A Range Boost Ahead Of Its U.S. Debut (Updated)
The all-new iX3’s estimated range has increased by 34 miles, boosting an already impressive number.
- BMW has updated the range estimate for the iX3 on its U.S. website.
- The next-generation electric SUV is now expected to deliver 34 more miles of range.
- With this update, the iX3 becomes one of the few EVs capable of delivering over 400 miles of range on a full charge.
BMW has updated the range estimate for the American version of the upcoming 2027 iX3 electric SUV, boosting it to the highly desirable club of EVs that can deliver over 400 miles on a full charge.
The German automaker’s American website now shows an estimated range of up to 434 miles for the iX3 xDrive50 version. That’s 34 more miles (8.5%) compared to the initial estimate of 400 miles. It’s worth noting, however, that this is still BMW’s estimate, and the figure may change once the EPA certification is complete.
[Update 4/29/26 at 12:12 P.M. ET: BMW removed the 434-mile figure from the website shortly after we published this story. It now reads "Up to 400 mi" of range, as before. We reached out to BMW for clarification, but a spokesperson did not comment on the situation. Our assumption is that this was posted by accident and removed after it was noticed.]
Still, the iX3 joins a handful of other EVs that have official range estimates of over 400 miles, making it an even more compelling choice than before.
Based on BMW’s Neue Klasse 800-volt platform, the iX3 xDrive50 gets a 108-kilowatt-hour battery that can be recharged at up to 400 kilowatts. The automaker claims the new EV can gain 175 miles of range after just 10 minutes of charging and that going from 10% to 80% takes about 21 minutes.
These numbers make it one of the fastest-charging EVs in the United States. Not only that, but the electric crossover is a seriously good car in general, with a great ride, all of the latest technology, and a price tag that won’t burn through your pocket.
The first iX3s should start making their way stateside from BMW’s plant in Debrecen, Hungary, right about now. However, these units will be used for marketing and test drives. The formal U.S. launch is planned for May, with complete pricing and ordering guides already out by that point, according to BMW Blog. Then, in June, the online configurator is expected to go live, and the order books will open officially.
American-spec iX3s are expected to start rolling off the assembly line in early September, with the first customer deliveries in the U.S. scheduled for late September or early October.
BMW says the iX3 will start from roughly $60,000 in the U.S., but as per usual with luxury automakers, there will be plenty of options to choose from. These include a panoramic sunroof, 22-inch wheels, and a 3D head-up display.
