Subaru's Next Electric SUV Will Be Revealed Next Week. Here's A Teaser.
Subaru already added two new EVs to its lineup this year. Another is coming soon.
Subaru will unveil its next electric vehicle at the New York International Auto Show next week, the company announced on Monday.
Subaru posted a dark teaser image of the SUV driving down the highway and said it will have 420 horsepower. As you'd expect from a Subaru, the new SUV will have all-wheel drive and, according to the photo, roof rails.
From the photo and limited details available so far, it's not clear exactly what the vehicle is. But Subaru COO Jeff Walters told Automotive News in February that the company planned to launch a three-row electric SUV by year's end. That hasn't been revealed yet.
If the Uncharted is something like an electric Crosstrek and the Trailseeker is an electric Outback, then this could resemble an electric Ascent. But we don't know for sure, and this could also be some other unannounced EV that Subaru has been working on.
Moreover, every Toyota EV has a Subaru twin. There's the bZ and Solterra; the bZ Woodland and the Trailseeker; and the C-HR and the Uncharted. Earlier this year, Toyota unveiled the three-row Highlander EV. That does not have a Subaru equivalent yet.
Subaru's lineup has already gotten considerably bigger and better this year. The Solterra got a huge mid-cycle refresh for 2026, bringing more range and faster charging speeds. The compact Uncharted and Outback-like Trailseeker launched as well. Now Subaru is on track to have a fourth EV in its lineup in relatively short order.
We'll learn all the details about this new model—and share them with you—when Subaru's officially reveals the new EV on Wednesday, April 1.
