‘Any Car With A Heater Will Do That In An Hour’: Man Tries To Defrost His Tesla In The Snow. It Doesn’t Go Great

A man uses the defrost mode to remove a thick layer of snow from his Tesla. The feature works after about an hour, but was that worth the roasting he got in the comments?

TikTok creator @cleantesla0 is known to post Tesla rage bait on his account. He did it again in a video posted last week, which shows him using the defrost mode to get the snow off of his Tesla. “Using the defrost mode on my Tesla in the deep snow,” he wrote in the on-screen text.

The video starts with a clip of the car covered in snow, then cuts to a shot of the car 30 minutes later where about half of the snow is gone. The last clip shows the results an hour into the experiment. While the snow isn’t completely gone, it does look like the majority is at least softened.

“Slid right off,” the TikToker wrote in the caption.

Viewers React To The Tesla Defrost Mode Rage Bait

Of course, the comments section of the video is full of insults and hate directed at both the creator and the Tesla brand. The creator responded to many of them with blatant trolling.

“With enough battery left to drive half a mile,” predicted one skeptical viewer.

“How fast do you think it'd be if you just wiped the heavy snow off first like a normal human?" a second person wrote. “Don’t need to,” @cleantesla0 said in response. “It’s already cleaned off without me touching it.”

“Congrats, now your battery is dead,” said another person. After reviewing the viewer’s profile, @cleantesla0 replied, “The [Mitsubishi] Lancer is slow and that transmission is glass.”

Several viewers pointed out that most modern cars have a defrost function. "This is Tesla defrost," @cleantesla0 trolled one person. "It's different."

Is Tesla’s Defrost Mode That Much Different From Other Vehicles?

Tesla’s Defrost Car mode melts snow and ice on the vehicle’s windshield, charging port, mirrors, and high-voltage battery. Many Tesla drivers enjoy remotely activating the mode and watching the snow drop off over time. Of course, this is most convenient when the driver doesn’t need to be somewhere urgently. This is likely what the TikToker was parodying with his video.

Tell us what you think!

Back in 2020, YouTuber Charging Chats posted an experiment where he tested a Tesla Model 3 and a Ford Fusion to see which defrost mode was more effective. Although the defrost mode worked about equally as well in both vehicles, the YouTuber gave Tesla the edge because of how easy it is to use the app.

However, it seems like the objective of this video is not an impartial demonstration of the feature. Instead, this seems like good ol’ fashioned rage bait aimed at people who spend their time online and in real life hating Teslas and the people who own them.
