'They Don't Know The Facts': Tesla Driver Says This Is The 'Worst' Part Of Owning An EV
“I want to tell you this: The truth about owning a Tesla. What is it actually like?"
A man reveals his least favorite part about being a Tesla owner, and it’s not for any of the reasons you think.
TikTok user FrunktoTrunk (@frunktotrunk) posted a video with his biggest Tesla complaint late last week. “This is by far my least favorite part about being a Tesla owner,” he says to start the video. “I want to tell you this: The truth about owning a Tesla. What is it actually like? The worst part?”
It doesn’t have anything to do with the electric vehicle itself. “You might see people online, your friends, your family, even your coworkers, talk about a Tesla like they own one,” he says.
Why is that bad? “These people have never driven a Tesla,” he says. “Oh, but they’ll be the first to tell you how long the battery lasts. They’ll be the first to tell you it’ll take hours to charge at a Supercharger. Well, they don’t know the facts. They don’t know that the average charging session per Tesla? Twenty-six minutes, which is perfect if you’re stretching your legs on a road trip.”
The fun doesn’t end there. “And they are the first to tell you. ‘Oh, just watch your electricity bill go up,’” he says. “But then they ignore the fact that your gas expenses go to zero. No more oil changes. These are the lowest-maintenance brands you can buy. They fail to remember that.”
In the end, he says, “Ask the Tesla owners for the truth. That’s the most frustrating part about owning a Tesla. So many people are entitled to their opinions, but, mostly, they’re always wrong.”

Viewers React To The ‘Worst’ Part Of Owning A Tesla
In the comments section, viewers reacted to FrunktoTrunk’s tongue-in-cheek PSA about the difficulty of being a Tesla owner.
“Spot on,” wrote one viewer.
“This is my last favorite part of being a non-Tesla owner,” said a second person. “Ever wonder why you never see a dude in a Honda Civic defend his car from criticism year after year? Because they don’t care. People buy a Tesla and want everyone to know they own a Tesla. Give me a break.”
A third comment demonstrated why that might be the case. “Once you own one, you wonder if you could ever drive anything else,” the person wrote.
Is This Really The Worst Part Of Owning A Tesla?
FrunktoTrunk isn’t the first person to make this statement. A year ago, a Reddit user posted to r/TeslaModelY with a similar sentiment. “I don’t like attention, but I do like my Tesla,” the person wrote.
Numerous Tesla owners in the thread agreed. One of them wrote, “I did not at all expect how much of a talking point this car would be. I especially didn’t expect the times I’d have the exact same conversation with people about why I don’t have full self-driving.”
Another person said, “The greatest way to live is to not care what others think of you.”
