Las Vegas Family Of 5 Buys Tesla Model Y. Then They Pack It For A Weeklong Trip
“If you haven’t ever driven a Tesla, I’m telling you that once you drive it, you’ll be sold."
A Las Vegas TikToker and mom of three has nothing but good things to say about her Tesla Model Y after purchasing the crossover EV.
Aly Winder (@alywinder) begins her video speaking directly into the camera while seated inside of her new Tesla Model Y. “Let me influence you to buy a Tesla Y for your family of 5!” Winder writes in the clip’s on-screen caption.
Mom’s Model Y Love
She says of the popular crossover SUV, “I have been wanting to get on here and make this video real quick. If you’re deciding if you should get a Tesla before the tax thing is gone, you should.” She then lifts her camera to reveal that her three children are sitting in the backseat. One is in an infant carseat, the other, a front-facing toddler unit. Sitting between these car seats is her son, wearing a suit and pink tie. “I have three kids. One, two, three. We’re in a Tesla Model Y. Everyone fits comfortably,” she says.
Winder praises the hauling capacity of the vehicle. “We even packed for a week-long trip to Hawaii. We fit the three kids, my husband and all of our luggage into this vehicle and took it to the airport without any problems,” she tells viewers. “It has space, it’s comfortable.”
Winder says she also is a fan of the EV’s driving dynamics. “If you haven’t ever driven a Tesla, I’m telling you that once you drive it, you’ll be sold. Like that’s what got me is I drove my mom’s Tesla on a road trip. And instantly I was like, ‘I have to have this car.’ Like, opinions aside as far as the creator of Tesla, the car itself is beautiful, functional, saves on gas, and has plenty of room for a family of five,” she says at the end of her clip.
Just A Honeymoon Phase?
One needn’t search too arduously to find a number of Tesla devotees, like this Tesla Motors Club user who said that even after three years of ownership, they still were smitten by their ride.

In August, InsideEVs looked into a claim by Edmunds that 51% of Tesla buyers ultimately switch back to gas cars, finding that realistically, only 13% of Tesla owners make the switch. In fact, around two-thirds of Tesla buyers return to the brand to purchase another vehicle.
But there are folks who say the perks of owning a Tesla don’t outweigh the downsides. One Redditor posted to the r/RealTesla sub in 2024 discussing the end of the honeymoon phase highlighted an X post from an owner who was miffed that they had to un-pair and re-pair their phone as a key for their EV. S3Magazine also highlighted a YouTube video where folks discussed their disenchantment with the wonder of driving a Tesla for the first time.
It certainly doesn’t help that the brand’s most affordable vehicle, the Model 3, has suffered from control arm issues so prevalent that some owners received messages urging them to proactively address the problem. Moreover, in 2023, Tesla was named as the most recalled car brand by a wide margin.
Mixed Responses
The comments section of Winder’s video featured a mixed bag of responses. There were some who shared her love for Tesla. Others offered up a word of caution for folks thinking about getting the car, stating that EV adopters should prioritize home charging set-ups. “I have a model 3 and love it— but I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have a level 2 at home or work.”
InsideEVs has reached out to Winder via TikTok comment for further information.
