Congratulations To Drive Electric Week 2015 Hong Kong
Congratulations to Charged Hong Kong and all participants for making the first Drive Electric Week in the city a very successful event.
Congratulations to Charged Hong Kong and all participants for making the first Drive Electric Week in the city a very successful event.
Although they weren't able to organize an EV rally due to logistics and traffic regulations, participants were able to promote EVs, their technology and most of all the benefits of such sustainable transport to the city in various fun ways.
The event increased the awareness of EV technology being an alternative option to traditional gasoline vehicles and busted some myths about these street worthy large size golf carts.
Throughout the week, we had many EV as well as non-EV owners participating in various fun challenges to gain points to win fabulous prizes from our sponsors. Points were awarded to participants sharing photos of charging points on social media sites to promote charging locations.
Many of these same individuals have already joined certain social media group or blogs prior to the event. They have actively shared their charging experience, as well as raised issues like ICEing and EVs holding up charging stalls when not charging.
Others gave test RIDES to friends, relatives and colleagues on their EV, which surprised many of those passengers and completely changed their mind about the technology.
One of the Charged Hong Kong group members and Secretary Core Lohse, a full time pilot from a local airline, organised a booth at his company headquarter to promote EVs to all employees.
Interested employees were invited for a test ride provided by EV owners volunteering during the week long event. Many of the passengers asked very interesting questions during their rides and the compelling factors sure made them envy of those owners.
On a personal note, I was thrilled to take part in the event with other EV owners as I have finally took delivery of my Model S P85D during the Drive Electric Week.
The car is totally amazing and it will be very difficult for me to go back to driving an ICE car again. I took a number of passengers on an INSANE test ride including a few airline pilots. One of the pilots commented that the intensity level felt from the insane acceleration was stronger than he experience when taking off on a plane (but I didn't get a chance to ask the type of aircraft he flies)
At the end of the week, Charged Hong Kong threw a dinner party for all the EV enthusiast a chance to get together to share their Drive Electric Week experience and most importantly to announce the top three winners with the most points gained from all the challenges design to help promote the use of sustainable transport.
The top three prizes include from BMW HK an i3 to drive for a full weekend, an opportunity to drive an i8 for 2 hours, Hotel ICON is offering an one night stay at their hotel suite and finally VITALAGE is offering free asthentic treatment.
Hope to see you all again next year in 2016!!!
