‘Might Look Into It': Roofer Is Unsure About EVs. Then He Hears About Tesla’s Customer Service After His Client’s Battery Died
"I think that's pretty good customer service from Tesla."
After seeing how convenient it was for one of his clients to get a battery changed, a roofer is considering whether to buy a Tesla.
TikTok user TikTok Roof Daddy (@tiktokroofdaddy) spends his time roofing and spreading fitness motivation. He describes the Tesla customer service experience in a video posted on Sep. 9.
“I’m not saying I’m gonna get a Tesla,” he says while driving a non-Tesla vehicle, “but one of my clients has a Tesla, and the battery went out on him. They towed it from his house, changed the battery, and they’re gonna drop it off at the plant that he works at so he can just hop in his vehicle and just drive home.”
Is Tesla’s Customer Service a Reason to Go EV?
Clearly, this story made an impression on TikTok Roof Daddy. “Don’t think I’m gonna get a Tesla anytime soon, but I think that's pretty good customer service from Tesla,” he says. “In the future, might look into it.”
However, he does still have some reservations. “I don’t know; I’m still weird about going all-electric,” he says. “They can just shut off your vehicle. Then again, all the new gas vehicles have their quirks with their electrical systems as well. What do y’all think?”
Viewers React To The Tesla Battery Replacement Story
In the comments section, Tesla owners agreed that the company’s customer service is top quality.
“I just got one and they came to fix a small issue I had at home,” wrote one driver.
“Yes, I have had a Tesla since 2008 and the service is always awesome,” agreed a second person.
“I was skeptical for a few years and got one last December,” wrote a third person. “It has been the best change in my life. They are amazing and are always looking for ways to improve your experience.”

Several users urged TikTok Roof Daddy to make his decision sooner rather than later.
“Do it! Best decision I’ve ever made,” wrote one viewer. “If you order by Sep. 30, you get the $7,500 tax credit, which is taken off the price of the car.”
However, someone else disagreed with the rosy picture of Tesla customer service. “Love my Tesla, but hate the customer service, especially here in Las Vegas,” they wrote. “Luckily, I barely have to deal with that because it is a Tesla.”
How Do Tesla Owners Rate Its Customer Service?
Despite the positivity in the comments, the reality of Tesla’s customer service reputation is mixed. According to a Consumer Affairs report from last summer, a large proportion of Tesla owners report being dissatisfied with the company’s customer service.
Customers reported difficulty in getting a real person to address their concerns. This sentiment is echoed on this thread posted to the Tesla Owners Online forum last year. While some defended the company against complaints, other Tesla enthusiasts agreed with the criticism.
“I honestly read the title ‘Tesla Customer Service Is Now Mediocre At Best’ and thought, ‘Did it improve?” wrote one owner. “Not intending to bash Tesla. It is what it is and I wouldn’t stay a customer if I weren’t OK with it.”
