Man Buys Tesla Cybertruck. Then He Reveals How He Got Free Charging
“My Tesla Cybertruck costs me exactly $0 to fuel up."
A Tesla Cybertruck owner shows off the benefits of the free charging he got with purchase. Some customers say he should’ve held out longer.
TikTok user Joe Fay (@jf.okay) demonstrated how the year of free charging is impacting his life. “My Tesla Cybertruck costs me exactly $0 to fuel up,” he says to start the video. “And that’s because with the purchase of this brand-new Cybertruck, they gave me free charging for a year. So let’s go take full advantage of that and fuel this up—absolutely free.”
Is This The Best Way To Charge A Cybertruck?
With that, Fay hops into the Cybertruck and prepares to hit the road. “For reference, right now I am at 40 percent battery,” he says. “And the closest Supercharger to where I live is only 2.6 miles away.”
Just a few minutes after leaving his house, Fay arrives at the Supercharger and plugs his Cybertruck in to charge. “This is about the time when I’d have to wait about 40 minutes for the truck to completely charge,” he says after climbing back into the cab. “But because this Supercharger is located next to a shopping mall, I can go inside and do stuff. And the only reason that I’m here Supercharging is because I needed to go to that mall.”
For Fay, it’s too much of a time sink to charge unless he needs to go shopping. “Might as well take advantage of free charging for an entire year and charge while I need to go run some errands,” he says. “And, as you can see, it’s not charging me anything to charge. Completely free.”

In the comments section, viewers weighed in on Cybertrucks, free charging promotions, and whether Fay really got such a great deal.
“You just wait until Tesla offers lifetime Supercharging,” wrote one person. “That’s what I’m waiting for.”

“It ain’t free if you have a car note, brother,” said a second user.
A third person said, “Yeah, but your truck costs more than my house to buy.”
Tesla periodically offers free unlimited Supercharging as a promotion under very specific conditions. For instance, last holiday season, the EV maker added the perk to boost sales of the Model S. Importantly, the extra was preceded by a $5,000 price increase. This year, the company added lifetime Supercharging to its Luxe Package, which notably adds $10,000 to the price of the Model S and Model Y.
In a Reddit post to r/TeslaLounge a month ago, users debated whether the Luxe Package is worth it. One person broke down the cost of each perk included in the package and estimated that, if the driver exclusively uses Superchargers, the deal would be worth it. However, “I would still rather have the car be $10,000 cheaper,” they wrote.
