  • Rivian has switched on the configurator for the R2.
  • Potential buyers can now configure an R2 in their desired spec, showing all of the features and timelines for release.
  • Customer deliveries begin this spring, with the ability to order your R2 opening up in June.

If you've got your eye on a Rivian R2, you're not alone. Rivian has reportedly logged over 200,000 reservations for its upcoming electric SUV, and folks are growing more antsy as it gets closer to being in their driveway.

In the meantime, though, you can finally configure your very own R2 using the official configurator. The tool is now live on Rivian's website and reveals the different features, packages, and even some new timelines that help to show exactly when your desired model could be available.

If you want an R2 at launch (and you're an early enough reservation holder), you'll be able to grab an R2 Performance with Launch Package—which adds on Autonomy+, Tow Package, a special key fob, and the ability to purchase Launch Green paint—for $57,990.

All-in, a fully-equipped Performance with Launch Package will run $62,745. Here's how that pricing breaks down.

Any paint color other than silver will run $1,000 to $2,000, and some colors won't be immediately available. For example, Forest Green isn't on the docket until late 2026 and Rivian's beautiful Borealis purple (which is only available on the Performance trim) won't be available until 2027.

Rivian's Dark interior comes standard, but for those who prefer a lighter look Coastal Cloud will be a $1,000 upgrade when Rivian unlocks it for ordering later this year for all trims except the Standard.

If you don't plan on buying a Launch Package, Rivian does offer some additional upgrades for its Standard and Premium trims.

All-wheel-drive comes standard on the $53,990 Premium trim, but it's a $3,500 upgrade for the $48,490 Standard model. Equipping AWD cuts the Standard's estimated range from 345 miles to 330 miles and unlocks the tow package, which is an extra $950 option.

The Standard trim comes with 19" wheels and offers a $1,000 upgrade to the same 20" bi-color carbon wheels offered on the Premium. The Premium trim offers a $2,000 upgrade to the 21" Liquid Tungsten wheels found on the Performance. And finally, if you're more focused on a rugged trim, the Performance trim will let you move from its 21" wheels to the 20" Black Sand wheels with 32" BF Goodrich all-terrains tires for an extra $1,000.

And speaking of tires, Rivian will actually give you the option to purchase a compact spare package (including a jack and wheel chocks) that actually has a dedicated spot in the hatch—though that'll cost $755. Still, it's cool to see in an automaker actually offering the option for a fitted spare in this day and age.

Rivian also allows you to add-on its Autonomy+ package for $2,500, though it's important to note that Rivian is not currently shipping cars with its lidar package, nor is it planning a retrofit.

What do you think?

R2 production officially kicked off about three weeks ago and has been "absolutely humming," according to an update by the automaker on Thursday. Rivian estimates that it will produce between 20,000 and 25,000 R2s at its plant in Normal, Illinois by the end of 2026. Its upcoming Georgia plant has a planned annual product capacity of around 300,000 vehicles.

Deliveries have kicked off to employees. Rivian says that customers will receive invitations to configure their R2s beginning in June "on a rolling basis." So if you're one of the lucky ones to get your launch edition, be sure to flaunt it. And if you can't wait, show us what your ideal R2 configuration looks like in the comments below.
