Do Tesla’s Phone Chargers Actually Charge Your iPhone?

A Tesla enthusiast reveals the “super affordable” hack that makes charging his older smartphone easier without sacrificing style.
TikTok user Prime Products Crew (@primeproductsrcw) tests all manner of consumer products. In a video posted on Aug. 26, the man behind the account shows off the product that changed how he charged his phone when driving his Tesla.
“I think Teslas are some of the best cars on the road, but I do have a gripe about the charging,” he says to start the video. “Let me show you what I did about that.”
What Did This Tesla Enthusiast Do About Phone Charging?
The TikToker ventures inside his Tesla to show off his phone charging hack. “I’m very aware that Tesla gives you two wireless chargers here,” he says, motioning to the wireless charging platform. “They’re slow; it doesn’t work well with my older phone.”
He explains that there are two USB-Cs inside a compartment below the charging platform. However, this creates a problem when the cables stick out and get caught in the door. ”I prefer a more clean look, and that’s why I got this,” he says.

The TikToker slides the compartment on the center console open and shows viewers an aftermarket charging port blending into the console.
“This looks like it’s part of the Tesla,” he says. “It actually has two retractable cables: one USB-C and one lightning. You also get a USB-C slot and a USB slot. And then when you’re done charging, you just slip this up and it looks like it’s part of the Tesla.”

How Does The Charging Device Work?
It’s not just the functionality that the TikToker appreciates; it’s also the aesthetic quality. “The unit is really slim, and it just uses these two USB-Cs that plug into the existing ones,” he says. “It’s really simple to install. You put it in diagonally, then turn it straight, and slide it back. Then all you have to do is plug it in right here and you’re ready to go.”
All in all, he says it's a "super affordable way to keep that clean look in your Tesla, and now you have really good chargers.”
The retractable center console USB hub, which is sold by a brand called Lifelicous, is available for sale on Amazon for $28.99. In the reviews section, buyers said they appreciated the design and charging speed.

In the comments section of the TikTok, viewers weighed in on the necessity of this device.
One user said, “Lightning in 2025? In response, the TikToker said, “The last iPhone with lightning was two years ago. My theory is all the people who have commented this finance their phone. Getting a new phone every year isn’t a flex.”
A second user wrote about the wireless chargers, “I think you mean it comes with two phone warmers, because in my experience that’s all they do.”
Reddit users discussed the slowness of the wireless charging pad in a thread posted to r/TeslaModel3 a few years ago. One person said, “The wireless charger will always be slower and less efficient than wired charging. It’s convenient, not fast/efficient.”
