Porsche’s first plug-in hybrid recorded its first sales in the US last month, though we're uncertain as to the precise amount of units that were sold due to Porsche not breaking out sales of the various Panamera models.

The plug-in Panamera S E-Hybrid starts at $99,000 (and qualifies for $4,750 worth of the federal credit as well), which actually makes it one of the cheaper Panameras (there are 11 versions of the Panamera offered in the US) available and certainly the cheapest with 416 hp on tap. Industry estimates expect that 10% of Panamera buyers will opt for the plug-in hybrid version.
Sales of the Panamera in the US typically hover around the 500-unit mark per month. So, if we assume the industry is reasonably accurate with its 10% prediction, then Panamera S E-Hybrid sales should be in the ballpark of 50 units per month, but not this month as our search of dealer inventory shows perhaps a dozen or so on dealer lots across the US.
We suspect a handful were sold (although there has been some initial, yet still unverified, reports of some hiccups getting the car into customer's hands), but as inventory grows, maybe that 50-unit prediction will be achieved.
The Panamera S E-Hybrid, Porsche’s first plug-in hybrid cranks out a total of 416 horsepower, with the electric motor providing 95 of those horses. Electricity is stored in a 9.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is claimed to provide the Panamera S E-Hybrid with 20 miles of electric-only range (NEDC test cycle - official EPA figures are not yet available).
