Our reporter, Suvrat Kothari, sat in a prototype of the upcoming Land Rover Range Rover GT EV at the brand's headquarters in Gaydon, U.K.
He was impressed by the high-quality, minimalist interior. It had a giant glass roof that let in plenty of light, and a tasteful approach to screens that looked better than the wall-to-wall displays you get in some Mercedes and Cadillac EVs.
It's too early to say whether the software will be able to compete with the best that Mercedes, BMW, or Tesla can do. Land Rover has struggled on that front in the past. And we don't know how it'll be as an EV, as we're still awaiting the launch of the company's first electric offering.
But with a new EV-specific platform, a new electrical architecture, and new software, it could be the most sophisticated Range Rover yet. We'll see.
