The new Mercedes-Benz CLA 350 Electric marks a new generation of electric vehicles from the German automaker with better designs, faster charging speeds, and really long driving range. The CLA now rides on the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) which is an EV-first platform but also designed to accommodate a hybrid powertrain, which the CLA will also get soon. I drove the CLA Electric recently and I think it's lovely to drive and festooned with technology. It blew past its EPA range, and added nearly 300 miles of indicated range in just 26 minutes of charging at a 400 kilowatt station—it's peak charging speed is 320 kW. The Sky Blue Metallic color and Beech Brown interior also look great together. Driving the compact CLA around town was also easy, as it fit into tight streets and parking spots. It still has some flaws, like cramped rear seats, only two window switches on the driver's side, and no way to skip a song on the steering.
