Nissan has launched the 2027 Rogue Hybrid in the U.S. The model, now in its fourth generation, is all new and arrives as a hybrid. The non-hybrid Rogue will arrive at a later date. The Rogue Hybrid will directly compete with the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, Toyota RAV4, and the Honda CR-V among others. It comes at a time when hybrid sales are booming in the U.S. due to high gas prices caused due to the war in Iran. However, unlike its rivals, the Rogue Hybrid gets a unique hybrid powertrain where it drives more like an EV. The wheels are powered only by electric motors, with the gas engine having no mechanical connection. The combustion engine only acts as a generator, charging the battery which in turn powers the motors. However, it's not a plug-in hybrid—the battery is only charged by the engine and brake regeneration.
