The Kia EV5 is the boxier, cheaper alternative to the EV6. It's built in China, which means it won't make it to the U.S., but it's a solid option for European and global buyers who want a more normal-shaped midsize Kia EV.
Unfortunately, its cheaper price comes with a compromise. It doesn't get the 800-volt architecture of the pricier Kias, meaning it can only charge at 127 kW. In our testing, it didn't even hit that number.
Still, as the photos here show, it's an attractive, practical option in a key segment. It's not the most exciting EV on sale, but it's worth consideration if you need an everyday EV.
