Ferrari is set to unveil its first electric vehicle, named Luce, which means “light” or “illumination” in Italian. The automaker has already shared the car’s technical specifications and is now revealing the interior design ahead of the full reveal later this year. Collaborating with LoveFrom, the creative collection founded by Sir Jony Ive, the interior of the Luce is distinct from typical Ferrari designs, drawing inspiration from Apple’s aesthetic.
The cabin of the Luce features three screens: a driver’s display, an infotainment screen, and rear-seat controls. The driver’s display consists of two overlapping panels, with the top panel having three cutouts that reveal the rear display, creating a three-dimensional look inspired by aviation dials. The display is attached to the steering column, moving together, and the steering wheel is a modern reinterpretation of the classic three-spoke Nardi wood wheels from the 1950s and 1960s, featuring a thin rim and exposed aluminum spokes. The wheel includes dedicated physical controls for various functions such as cruise control and drive mode selector.
The center display, equipped with a palm rest, swivels for easy access and includes physical controls for heating and cooling. It also has a cutout for a proprietary movement with four modes: clock, chronograph, compass, and launch control. The minimalist center console houses window switches and buttons for door locks and the trunk. The Luce also features a glass key with an E-ink display that changes color when placed in the center console holder. An overhead panel includes switches for lights and defroster, while the rear panel offers physical HVAC controls and vehicle vitals. The car boasts four electric motors delivering up to 986 horsepower in Boost mode, with a top speed of 192 mph and a 0-62-mph time of 2.5 seconds. Ferrari will reveal the car’s exterior in May at a special event in Italy.
