'The Crab Walk Actually Made Me LOL': She's On a Mission To Find the Perfect 'Mom' Car. It Might Be This one

'I'm obsessed with how this looks.'

The Hummer EV may not be the first vehicle you picture when you hear “mom car.” But that’s exactly why one web creator chose it as her first contender in a lighthearted but sincere journey to find the ultimate ride for her next chapter: Motherhood, with a whole lot of torque.

More than 4 million viewers have seen Kouvr (@k0uvr) share her thoughts on the Hummer EV as her go-to ride once she welcomes a child into the world. While she’s planning on evaluating plenty of other vehicles, she seemed impressed with just about everything available on the GM product.

“I'm obsessed with how this looks. I love a push-to-start car, and I also personally love the aesthetics of this car and how everything is made with buttons and knobs,” she said while looking over the instrument panel and infotainment display. “I'm literally a girl who loves an off-roading vehicle, and just because I'm a mom doesn't mean I can't have a fun car.”

A Mom Car With Muscle, and a Whole Lot of Features

Kouvr’s TikTok walkaround leans less on specs and more on what a car feels like to live with. In the case of the Hummer EV, the vibe is big, bold, and unapologetically extra.

Starting with the interior, she praised the button-heavy control layout, which bucks the screen-only trend seen in many modern EVs. The push-to-start ignition, heated and ventilated seats, and spacious center console all earned shoutouts for being practical and comfort-friendly—especially when anticipating life with a baby in tow.

The Hummer EV also features a powered rear window, which she demonstrated in the video. That’s in addition to heated rear seats, a rear flat-folding bench, and surprising underseat storage compartments, which are all useful additions for parents juggling car seats, strollers, and diaper bags. For the record, GM officially lists the rear seat heating, folding, and under-seat storage among the features available in the Hummer EV pickup via GMC Hummer EV product details.

She even took viewers through the MultiPro tailgate, which opens with a button and includes a built-in power outlet ideal for tailgates or mobile diaper changes, depending on how you look at it.

One moment that got a particularly big reaction from viewers was the Hummer EV’s crab walk mode. That’s a diagonal-driving trick enabled by four-wheel steering. While Kouvr admitted it’s not exactly essential for hauling kids around town, she still lit up at the novelty.

GM says the crab walk was designed for tight trails and off-road maneuverability, part of a larger package of off-road capabilities including Extract Mode for added ground clearance, adaptive air suspension, and up to 1,000 horsepower on the Edition 1 model per GM specs.

Also getting high praise from Kouvr was the powered frunk, which opens via the key fob and offers a deep front storage space where a gas engine would normally go. Her assessment? “If I can fit in it, so can a stroller.” According to GM, the Hummer EV’s “eTrunk” is one of the largest front storage areas in the segment, offering more than 11 cubic feet of space.

What’s the Hummer EV Like As a Family Car?

As fun as the Hummer EV looks through Kouvr’s lens, there’s still the question of whether it’s a practical pick for a new parent. The answer depends on your priorities and your budget.

Interior space is no problem. With a wheelbase over 135 inches and an overall length of 216.8 inches, the Hummer EV has more than enough room for car seats, diaper bags, and groceries.

But at nearly 87 inches wide and weighing more than 9,000 pounds, the Hummer EV Pickup is physically larger than most full-size SUVs and even some commercial vans. It’s too wide for some public parking spaces and may not fit in a standard residential garage.

Then there’s the cost: The base model Hummer EV Pickup starts at just under $100,000, while the Edition 1 version seen in most early reviews and influencer clips debuted at over $110,000.

Beyond one creator’s experience, Kouvr’s video taps into a larger shift happening in car culture. The old-school image of a “mom car” as a beige minivan or economy crossover is being replaced by EVs that blend practicality, personality, and a dash of rebellion.

What do you think?

What creators like Kouvr often show is that EVs aren’t just for early adopters anymore. As the technology matures, the questions are shifting from “Does it work?” to “Does it fit my life?”

The Hummer EV may not be for everyone. But Kouvr’s video underscores something more important than torque or towing capacity: Electric vehicles can be fun.
