The Young Turks Obviously Frequent

Okay, maybe it’s not new news, but when the mention of InsideEVs appeared on The Young Turks (reportedly the first Internet TV news show and the world’s largest online news show), we did a double take.

Ana Kasparian, Ben Mankiewicz and Michael Shure of The Young Turks appeared on video discussing Scotland’s ICE ban, which we covered at InsideEVs more than 2 months ago.

The Young Turks do expand upon the topic of Scotland’s ICE ban so we have included the video today, but most of what’s mentioned will be familiar to our regular readers.

The Young Turks video kindly links to our original article, which we’ve pasted below.

Original InsideEVs article from mid September:

According to Press TV, the Scottish government is looking to make a bold move that will highly favor electric vehicles over any ICE transport in city centers.

It’s being reported that Scotland intends to completely ban ICE vehicle from its city center by 2050

That move will cut down on pollutants in congested areas (this must be done to comply with European Union guidelines), while simultaneously promoting the purchase of electric vehicles.

The idea is that Scottish government will lead the way by replacing all of its ICE fleet vehicles with electrics and by equipping the majority of government building with charging stations to encourage the rest of the public to follow its lead.

As for private purchase of electric vehicles, Scotland plans to offer first-time buyers a £5,000 ($7,939 US) incentive on passenger EV and £8,000 ($12,702 US) on commercial electric vans. In addition, Scotland offers grants to cover the entire expense of purchasing and installing residential charging stations..

Scottish Transport Minister Keith Brown wholly supports the idea of banning ICE from city centers by 2050 and so do we.

When any nation, organization, or individual, talks about what will be happening in 2050, I just have to laugh. We “live in interesting times”, as the Chinese curse says. With current economic, energy, and ecological developments, it is pretty safe to say things will not go as planned.

They should ban ICE’s in LA and San Diego.
That would be good for a laugh.

I would like to propose a ban on analog TV’s by 2020’s too.

As for the above comment the funny thing about this is that by 2020 any TV that is not a flat screen will be phased out do to them being obsolete and them being phased out by cheaper better tech. As for ICE cars the same thing is happening and ICE cars will most likely be phased out by 2030 on their own. As for this law it’s really a joke.
