Boulder Electric Vehicle, a Colorado-based designer, developer and manufacturer of medium and heavy-duty electric trucks and vans, decided to test out one of its vehicles on the nearby Pikes Peak.

“Boulder Electric Vehicle is the 1st in the world to drive an electric truck to the summit of Pikes Peak, elevation 14,110 ft.”

If you ever wondered how much recharging of the battery pack could be achieved coming down from the peak, then here’s the answer:

“Not only did the all electric truck easily make it to the peak, but it gained an extra 25% SOC using regenerative braking on the way down. This video documents Boulder EV’s journey from the base all the way to the summit.”

25% sounds significant, but we wonder just how many kWh is that? 10? 20?

Very nice! I wonder where/how one might buy a Boulder Electric panel van?

If you want to buy, just go to Bolder EV’s website and contact them. It took less time to find their contact info than it took to write this short reply. Here you go:

very nice decently sized battery also with 72 kwh. Charging rates of 40 amps with 60 amps optional, If I’m reading their spec sheet correctly. Also will work with a standard 12 amp 110 volt backup.

Only possible down side for our Arizona friends, an air cooled battery management system.
