Video: AutoBild Pits Tesla Model S Against Porsche Panamera Plug-In Hybrid and BMW ActiveHybrid 7

“Eco is the new premium. But who wins at the end of the race? We have sent Porsche Panamera Plug-in Hybrid, Tesla Model S and the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 in the ring.”

Tesla Model S Faces Off Against the Luxury Competition

Tesla Model S Faces Off Against the Luxury Competition

That’s what AutoBild says of its matchup between the Tesla Model S, Porsche Panamera Plug-In Hybrid and the no-plug BMW ActiveHybrid 7.

Unfortunately, our knowledge of the German language is lacking, so we can’t make out the rest of what AutoBild says, but we’re rather certain the Model S comes out on top.

If the Model S isn’t the champ, then perhaps AutoBild has a German automaker bias?

Regardless of the actual result, we’re sure this is the first time we’ve seen the Panamera Plug-In Hybrid next to a Model S and it’s this matchup that some say will cut into Model S sales.  Will that be the case?  We doubt it, but what do you think?

Don’t bother. It’s merely a review of all 3 cars, none of which is ever seen going at more than maybe 50 km/h or 30 MPH, let alone racing.
Lot of talk (in German), artsy shots of each vehicle… and that’s pretty much it.

sorry but that bmw is not appealing at all, and the panamera is blah

and then look at the model s in its highlight color and highlight rims….. jaw dropping

model s always wins there is no car better than it… yet

They say the bimmer wins because the Tesla isn’t as comfortable, costs more, and there are no quick charge stations on the autobahn. Definitely biased. At one point he says it’s tough to believe a car this good come from America. Silly Germans. Usually they’re ahead of us in all things green, but I guess they love their auto culture. Compare this to recent Volkswagen/Audi complaints.

It isn’t biased. They just say that the bimmer is best, if you need the most comfortable car for long rides but that the bimmer looks a bit like a vehicle from a older time.
The Tesla that it is the one every driver is totally fascinated from. You drive it with “open mouth” and it is breathtaking – like you put a rocket on the roof of an electric driven golf-car… Sounds they are a bit Tesla biased…:-)

According to Autobild Model S beats the hybrid Panamera as a sportscar which is embarrassing for a brand like Porsche. Seven series mild hybrid beats Model S for comfort and long range practicality (since there is no Supercharge infrastructure in Germany yet) but it’s technology feels rather outdated compared to the other two.

This being Autobild the winner has to be German of course yet clearly even Autobild indicates that Tesla is the one the German luxury car industry needs to worry about.
