Video: 2013 Tesla Model S Performance Tries to Catch a 2013 BMW M5 Twin Turbo

It’s a road race of sorts and we’re never inclined to endorse such dangerous and illegal actions.

But a Tesla Model S is involved, so we figure why not air it here.

This video, captured by DragTimes, shows a 2013 Tesla Model S Performance trying to chase down a 2013 BMW M5.

The Tesla is outmatched here, as it sports “only” 416 hp, compared to the M5’s 560 hp, courtesy of a 4.4-liter V8 with twin turbos.

The M5 rips from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.7 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in 8.4 seconds and covers the quarter mile in 11.9 at 120-plus mph.

Those aren’t figures that the Model S can contend with, not even the Performance version.

Still, it’s interesting to see how the Model S fares from a high-speed roll, especially when it’s up against one of the quickest and fastest sedans ever made.

Looks like it caught up in the end.. perhaps the BMW driver decided he was going “fast enough” and didn’t want to accelerate any more.

Or he had a problem w/his transmission, or head gasket, or oil pump, or….

Cost to accelerate: Telsa Model S $.05, BMW M5 $1.25
Of course if you own either one of these, cost of fuel is generally not a consideration.

Actually, its pretty lame. Not newsworthy.
