We hadn’t until The Columbian reported on a massive deal Vancouver, Washington-based Pangea struck with the Philippines.

The deal calls for Pangea to ships 10,000 of its Comet people-hauling EVs to the Phillipines over the next three years as part of a deal Pangea signed with  Philippines transportation group Pasang Masda.

10,000!!!

The first 200 Comets, a 16-passenger electric van, will be shipped to the Philippines during the first quarter of 2014.  The initial batch of Comets will be tested out in Manila.  If those vehicles perform adequately, then all of Manila’s 10,000 or so diesel transport vehicles will eventually be replaced with electric Comets.

Pangea says the deal could generate hundreds of jobs in Vancouver, WA.  Financial details of the deal remain a mystery at this point.  It’s believed that each Comet will sell for between $20,000 and $30,000.

Pangea Motors hopes that the deal in the  Philippines will lead to similar arrangements elsewhere around the globe.  Pangea’s main focus right now is on supplying the Asian market.

Vancouver, WA, across the river from Portland, OR, not Vancouver, BC.

Thanks…Corrected

Wow, that’s rad.

And possibly the best thing yet to have come out of Vancouver, WA, as far as I’ve heard (no offense 🙂

It’s over 9000!

Great news for Vancouver. This would definitely create more jobs and bring a little more into the economy.
