UK’s All-Electric Car Sales Up 73% In January. Over 300 Teslas

UK surprised us in January with significant growth of all-electric car sales, which combined with a decrease on the plug-in hybrid side.

Some 1,010 BEVs were registered last month (including roughly over 300 Teslas), which was a big gain compared to 584 sold a year ago.

  • 1,010 BEVs (up 73%)
  • 1,563 PHEVs (down 7%)

In total, the UK added 2,573 plug-in cars (up 18% year-over-year, while the overall auto market grew only by 2.9%).

Market share stands at one of the highest level all-time at 1.47%.

With 146% probabiliy it was Renault Zoe.


Or the Ioniq. It jumped right up to 2nd place in Ireland in January. So it could have had big sells in the U.K.


Change in incentive policy, perhaps?


January was first full month of X deliveries in the UK.
