Ugliest BMW i8 Yet?

The BMW i8 is arguably one of the best-looking plug-in electric cars on the planet, so why mess with its exterior design?   Apparently a Japanese take on the German car sounded like a good idea to someone.

As BMWBLOG reports:

“ENERGY MOTOR SPORT in Japan released a series of aftermarket parts for the BMW i8. The hybrid sportscar gets an EVO i8 bodykit which consists of a redesigned and more aggressive front bumper, front and rear over fenders, a rear wing for increased visuals and downforce, a rear flipper and new side mirror covers.”

“To stand out even more in the still fairly limited crowd of i8 cars, the BMW i8 Cyber Edition comes with a new “paint job”. Using a wrap by P.G.D, this modified i8 features a silver chrome color, with a shinny patina which gives the hybrid sportscar an even more exotic look.”

Leave the i8 alone. This should be considered a crime against automotive excellence.

Japanese take on a German car…enough said. Those cheap fast and furious body kits for those lawnmower powered cars need to stay on them.

There is something quite off-putting about, how should I term them, immature? design cues that loudly announce themselves, imprint themselves on your brains video screen, like those snippets of songs your can’t get out of your mind, and not in a good way.

Well, considering the looks of the mirai or prius, or anything from Toyota. Really the Japanese should not design cars.

Good looking car designs are not their strong suit.

There are no ugly American cars right…
There are plenty of great looking cars, even from Toyota, the LFA or 86 for example, both better looking than a whole slew of Americans metal.

Still not as fugly as a gen 1 Leaf.

It’s what you would expect for a car design that took its inspiration from a frog. Brought to you by the makers of Hello Kitty.

My first thought when seeing the front end of this car was “Has it been in a wreck?” 🙂

That wasn’t the fault of the paint job. Those are ugly cars to begin with.

No damage done.

The i8 started out as overwrought and ugly (especially compared to the M1) and the chrome just emphasizes it’s worst contours.

And yes, I have seen them in person, so it’s not just “camera ugly”.

Well shoot ugly knows no nationality. Look what Saleen, Larte Design, or RevoSportd did to Tesla. InsideEv is just trying to play the nationalism aspect to it for clicks.

It’s the Transformers Edition!

Please make it stop.

This car is not ugly at all. I love everything about it. It is kind of pricey, but it is no comparison to a Lambo or Ferrari. I would drive one of these.
