Electric cars are not the only initiative, as three Navy installations in California will be equipped with solar energy and energy storage systems.

Projects are the fruit of partnerships between the California Energy Commission and the Department of the Navy, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

“Energy Commission Chair Robert B. Weisenmiller and Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment Dennis V. McGinn signed the agreement formalizing a partnership that supports Navy and Marine Corps installation efforts to develop alternative energy resources and increase energy security and reliability. The MOU ensures continued collaboration and information sharing on energy projects and initiatives.”

That is a Sharp Tesla ! They should Build a “Citizen’s Edition” for sale to the public, Just like That , I bet they’d Sell lots of them.

I wonder if these military EVs need to be able to handle a electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from a nuclear attack.

Likewise how do you keep solar panels from going out if we have an EMP?

EMP is not something you can simply banter about in an EV car forum and expect a conclusion. I think the simple answer is: isolation and shielding.

The hard answer is typical radiation questions: time of exposure, distance, energy.

These vehicles are likely for service purposes, like picking up parts, bringing people to and fro, and not theater of battle equipment. I sincerely hope that they get a mix. I’d recommend the Soul EV, Ford Transit Connect, and at least one Tesla for the brass!

An armored presidential Tesla model x would be nice for President Hillary Clinton…and rich Americans will pay for it.
