This Ford Focus Electric Commercial Is Humorous & Brilliant – Video

APR 24 2015 BY ELECTRICCARSTV 16

This time last year, Ford of Europe released a Focus Electric commercial that somehow slid under our radar.

Having now seen the commercial, we’ll be the first to admit that we’re kinda disappointed we missed this gem when it first came out.

This one is guaranteed to make you laugh.

“…Ford Focus Electric is powered by a state-of-the-art 23kWh liquid-cooled, high-voltage lithium-ion battery system, meaning zero emissions. In addition to zero exhaust emissions, another big advantage of electric power is that the engine runs almost silently. Watch our latest technology in action and see what happens when you team up one of the quietest cars on the road with the purring of a V8 engine.”

With ridiculous sales numbers, silence is what to expect from dealers if you ask about the Focus EV.

+3!
Also, how far up remote mountain roads can they expect to go without any QC option?

(to be fair, I did read about FFEs climbing the summit of Mt. Washington, NH; but that’s a fairly short, dead-end climb)

(to be super-fair, not sure how many ChaDeMos sit at the top of remote mountain roads in America. I know BC Canada has a few, but in the US?)

We do?

All of them are in towns, not on mountaintops.

Besides, when you’re already at the top of the mountain, you already have an onboard generator.

That was an excellent video/ad! I wish GM had the intelligence to do something in a similar manner for the Volt.
Nah. We got robotic puppies and a frumpy housewife being ogled by aliens.

I love this commercial. I’ve done the same thing driving our Nissan Leaf with my wife in the car and she looked at me like, have you lost your mind?

I’ve seen this. It made its rounds on the forums a while back.

I’ve seen it before, and even knowing what’s going on, it makes me smile. Thanks for brightening my Friday morning.

Now if Ford would only add DCFC and raise the range by 50%, I could be seen in one of these!

Does anyone have data on the decibel difference between and EV and a ICE car driving at 70mph on the expressway? The Focus would be a good candidate since its sold in both forms. It would be interesting to see what % of the cabin noise comes from tires/wind vs engine.

Excellent! But I think that’s a V6.

I didn’t laugh. A slight smile. Where is my guarantee? 😉

I really like Ford’s driving on sunshine ads. Here is one of them.

Wow, I hadn’t seen that and am really glad you shared it John. Made my day, thanks.

I almost bought one of these cars – until I found out the one I was looking at had the dreaded SSN problem AFTER it received all of the fixes mandated for the problem. I spoke with electric response team at Ford and their final solution was that since its still under warranty, I could take it back to the dealer enough times to get it lemoned! Nice solution. Nice car to drive, but I just couldn’t buy into the idea of losing all power while driving, avoiding an accident, towing it to the dealer and waiting for them to say it was fixed- until the next go round. Now that’s REAL RANGE ANXIETY! If you are thinking about a used one, please get the OASYS report from the dealer- can be very revealing. Also, don’t trust CarFax. They said it was clean, but when the dealer finally sent me the title- it had been lemoned

Our FFE works great after the update. 32K miles.

SSN – Social Security Number?

FOr those of us not intimately contemplating a Focus, please elaborate. Is this a Sudden SNooze problem? – Where the car stops dead and the dealer can’t get it working again?
