Tesla’s 18650 Battery Cell Cut Open – Video

What’s Inside? purchased some Tesla battery modules to see what’s inside … in typically destructive fashion.

What’s inside a Tesla Battery? (source: What’s Inside?)

We really don’t recommend to conduct such an experiment yourself, but if you are interested in what happens if your Tesla battery module is:

  • punctured by arrow,
  • throw from the roof
  • cut by the axe

…then here is video for you.

As it turns out, the 18650 cells or module itself didn’t catch fire anyway – which is of course good news.

So.. to save me the time of having to find the other video they are talking about. Why are they getting rid of their Tesla?

Because this ex-owner is clueless – he considers fact that tires on P85 don’t last long a defect (not even considering that his style of driving might have something to do with having to replace tires after 9 months)…

He got rid of his Model S P85 because he couldn’t handle the power and the rear tires wore to the threads.

Guess what car he bought? Model X 100D.

So what other batteries look like? Gotcha!

It bugs me that still today people can’t make the difference between a cell and a battery.

Also, why destroy this pack?
