Tesla To Add Toilet Humor And Romance Mode

Also, more games!

Tesla is adding toilet humor to its cars. No joke. That is to say, we’re not kidding. CEO Elon Musk announced in a tweet today (embedded below) the inclusion of a couple new upcoming Easter eggs for the all-electric vehicles, along with a number of unnamed new games.

While we can only imagine the crappy jokes will be relatively inoffensive and kid-friendly since, after all, kids are the main purveyors of toilet talk. Having five sons of his own, Musk is probably flush with wisecracks. Yes, all puns intended.

To perhaps balance things out, it is also adding something called “Romance Mode.” No details have been released but if it doesn’t include a selection of Barry White tunes (ask your granddad) and a full-screen flickering fireplace, we’ll be disappointed. We are pretty certain this particular mode will only be available when parked. No word yet on whether this could also be combined with camping mode, but we’ll let you know when more details arrive.

We also can’t say which games are to be added. Musk did make it clear that Nintendo’s Mario Kart would not be one of them as the video game company rebuffed Tesla’s request to license the software (Tesla owners can register their displeasure here). Currently, the cars offer ported versions of Asteroids, Centipede, Lunar Lander, and Missile Command.

The new additions are meant to help Tesla live up to Musk’s vision that the company’s vehicles are “the most fun you could possibly have in a car.” We choose to bite our tongues on how “Romance Mode” advances this, but we’re certain there will be a number of entertaining videos forthcoming. Hopefully, they won’t all be NSFW.

How about fixing the existing games? Centipede doesn’t show scores, the UI is dodgy, only two of the games have working sound.

Really? Back in my day, cars only had one game.
It was called “Are we there yet?”

It’s just annoying to European owners that instead of fixing Spotify issues loading playlists etc. they add more games and silly things.

That’s like saying it’s annoying that UN workers go on holidays instead of fixing world hunger… Everyone needs to do some fun stuff occasionally to keep motivated for the important stuff — Tesla engineers are no exception.

I would pay extra to ensure that none of my gadgets did stupid things like this.

You are payed for your work because it isn’t fun. Spotify is broken since ages.

Another Euro point of view

I can’t remember where I read that but the rule of thumb is that in our western society where our basics needs are met thus our brains less and less challenged with life or death issues, for every 10 years that passes the average weight increases by 1 kg and mental age decreases by 1. So in 2080 expect to see huge seats with screens in front with a lot of toilet humor. And really toilet humor will be the thing as machines will mostly do our work, thus our brains will be even less challenged than they are now and we will have plenty of time to eat lots of burgers, that indeed means plenty of toilet time. It’s brilliant that Tesla has anticipated that, I wonder what’s the size of the front seats.

Go ‘way! ‘Batin!

I guess toilet humor was invented by this generation and didn’t exist prior.

You just described the movie “Idiocracy”. Except for burgers it was tacos.

Yes, by the idiocracy metric we should have combination car seats/toilets. We are already getting automatic driving cars, which is one of the prerequisites for the film.

What a bunch of crap ‼️

I have knelt down and prayed to the porcelain god, on occasion.
No more of that crap, for me.

No doubt

I’m going to assume that Romance Mode disables Ludicrous Mode, because the ladies don’t like it if you get there too fast.

Evs/AI are coming according to Mercedes. Who knew?
Oh, and 17 million in sales in the U.S. in 2019, no way.
GM: President Dan Ammann is taking over as CEO of the automaker’s Cruise autonomous vehicle unit, the company said Thursday.
“These appointments further demonstrate our commitment to transforming mobility through the safe deployment of self-driving technology and move us closer to our vision for a future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion,” MB
Yes, we can always count on GM to keep us safe.

Looking forward to an entire Tesla section in Porn Hub.

Now we know what the Model 3 interior camera was for. Just add another folder to your USB stick, “TeslaP**n”

No fake news please. It’s the CEO of Nio USA only, not the actual CEO of Nio.

Pretty fun. But I do have a complaint: Easter eggs are no longer Easter eggs from the moment they are announced. They should be hidden and “undocumented” surprises. Evil Google gets it (but others document it): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Google_Easter_eggs

Solid point.

Well, at least one will be able to use the car for something while waiting months for repairs.

How about they first fix the bugs in more important features?

1) when you hit the unlock icon on the charging port, it immediately re-locks and you have to hit a second time
2) after rolling down the driver side window, when you go to roll up the window, it instead rolls down farther.
3) occasional connectivity issues when streaming music

Still waiting on a camper mode control. I know you can gimmick it but would make it easier. Climate control on, all lights off w/screen.
