According to a Beijing-based Tesla Motors spokesman, the automaker plans to start selling the Tesla Model X in China sometime during the first half of 2016.

As Automotive News states:

“The electric-car manufacturer is also opening five to six new showrooms by the end of this year, bringing the total number in China to about 15, Gary Tao, a Beijing-based spokesman for Tesla, said by phone. The new outlets will be located in the center of cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to raise Tesla‚Äôs visibility, Tao said.”

Like in the U.S., demand for crossover and SUVs is high in Chian, so it make sense for Tesla to make available its Model X there as soon as possible.

The Model X is expected to first launch in the U.S. in late September.

According to Automotive News:

“To boost its service to Chinese customers, Tesla has appointed more than 20 local workshops to provide service and bodywork repairs, Tao said. Tesla has more than 1,400 destination charging stations in China and is working to boost the number of superchargers, or ultra-fast power points, Tao said.”

China? Heck, we want to know when Tesla will start selling the Model X in the USA!

InsideEVs isn’t the only website that says that if they aren’t gonna delay the debut yet again, they should start taking orders any day now…

Drop the other shoe already, Tesla!

When they say “sell” does that mean delivered, or just that they have taken the order?

sven

When you say they have “taken the order,” does that mean they have taken a deposit, or just that you have entered your contact info on their website and have made no actual commitment to purchase?

There is a $16k reservation/deposit already for the chinese Model X. So it must be delivery by then.

Is the $16k just a placeholder to be able to make an order. Meaning, to pick the options and build the car you want. So maybe Sept will be when you can actually build a car online and make an official order.

Sept for US, early 2016 for China.

I am not normally a Tesla hater but I have to admit I’m getting tired of hearing about Model X release date speculations.

Tesla does a lot of things well but they’ve built the Model X release into a practical joke.

I predicted Sep 20th at the beginning of the year based on Musk’s this Summer statement. The 20th being the last day of Summer was the basis of that prediction.

“Configuration day” was supposed to happen in July 2015. That was the day that Model X preorders could select their options.

I assume if that actually happened, we would have learned the actual price of the Model X

Does anyone have an update on Configuration day?

Brian

They still have 60 hours, its all good! Tesla always hits deadlines they bring up.
