Tesla Registers 4,609 New Model 3 VINs

Around 85% of the number is estimated to be dual motor vehicles

While the focus of the public was on the 2018 Paris Motor Show where several high-profile reveals from the legacy carmakers are happening, Tesla seems to be quietly grinding away at production woes. Coming into the 4Q, the U.S.-based carmaker is putting an immense amount of vehicles out on the road. The magnitude at which Tesla is producing and delivering cars is putting some fear into the hearts of executives dealing with the onslaught from California.

Tesla sold a whopping 61,875 cars (Model 3 and Model S) in the last quarter. According to data, they’ve ramped production to 5,300 vehicles per week and overall, produced over 80,000 vehicles in the period.

Q3 deliveries totaled 83,500 vehicles: 55,840 Model 3, 14,470 Model S, and 13,190 Model X. To put this in perspective, in just Q3, we delivered more than 80% of the vehicles that we delivered in all of 2017, and we delivered about twice as many Model 3s as we did in all previous quarters combined.

And now, seemingly more Model 3’s are coming. Recently, the carmaker registered a batch of 4,609 Model 3 VIN’s – out of which, approximately 85% are estimated to be the dual motor vehicles. The information was revealed by Model3Vins, a watchdog service dedicated to keeping track of new Tesla Model 3 VIN registrations. This marks yet another large batch of VINs registered, providing ample fuel to the rumor fire that the company received new battery equipment from Germany, helping them produce even more vehicles in a single timeframe.

There were 8,048 Model 3 vehicles and 3,776 Model S and X vehicles were in transit to customers at the end of Q3, and will be delivered in early Q4. Tesla publicly revealed a target goal of 100,000 Model S and X deliveries in 2018 and with the current onslaught in both production and deliveries, it seems the carmaker is well on their way to smashing it. The Model 3 is selling like crazy and more orders & deliveries are being recorded daily. With more and more people opting in for an electric vehicle, the sales volume will grow substantially and currently, it seems that nobody is ripe to catching Tesla. At least not in the foreseeable future, that is.

What does this have to do with new VIN numbers?

Cannot find the BLOCK button.

It’s also in Bloomberg, and all over Europe newspapers, the main reason why the TSLA stock tanked again after-hour is however that Elon Musk twittered again attacking the SEC as “Shortseller Enrichment Commission” in clear violation against the SEC settlement to stop criticizing the SEC (agreement posted here on InsideEV’s in full length some days ago).
Even TSLA bulls and investors are getting angry why jeopardizing the settlement now, when the judge wants Elon Musk to explain why he himself thinks this is a fair deal to be settled out of court.

The reason Tesla went down the last few days is because the Fed raised interest rates. The stock market dropped 200 points. Trumps tariff war, even after China had agreed to lower tariffs on autos to 15% and allow American auto companies to build factories in China without a Chinese partner Trump imposed more tariffs. This led to China to stop 15% tariffs and actually increase them instead.
Interest rates will continue to increase because this fiscal year ending September 30, 2018 will have a budget deficit of over 900 billion. Interest cost on the debt are 350 billion. Tax plan increased spending stimulus but lowered income tax revenues, so budget deficits will be a trillion a year in 2019 and for years to come.

GOP fiscal conservative my butt

But you voted for Trump and the GOP anyway.

TSLA is more than 7% down after this tweet , a reading of the riot act to Tesla lawyers for defamation of the government agency SEC , hmmmm this has nothing to do with the tweet and is only (mainly) caused by general US economic sentiments ?

There is nothing in the settlement about not criticizing the SEC — that would be absurd. He is just not allowed to deny the specific allegations made in that lawsuit.

What a surprise, serial anti-Tesla Will hijacks a Tesla thread to show us a BS article by serial anti-Tesla CNBC /s.

Maybe Will should apply to lie for CNBC?

News is news. Like Hilary was going to win but nobody trusted crooked Hilary and they stay away from the polls. Trust me I don’t like the orange clown who’s a threat to my existence

I didn’t hijack it, it’s breaking news. So I put it on the newest Tesla tread. He needs to shut up 🤐

Not as much ass you need to shut up and go back to Faux News and Breitbart.

Ok, so as of 10/4 there are about 12k Model 3, S and X models already built and on their way to customers from Sept production, along with 4,609 new registrations for just built Model 3s and this is week 1 of October. With this being a 5 week month, there is time for another 20k Model 3 and 7k Model S and X. November should be HUGE with about 40k units delivered.

The VINs are registered in advance, not for cars that have already been built.

Why is 4,609 Vin registrations a headline? They will be doing this every week…

My first thought, too!

Insideevs isn’t the same since Jay left, I like the monthly sales tracker, but I do miss the passion and how quickly Jay did his reporting on the latest / breaking events..

Just in 4 days time. Tesla has a 7 days production. Thats why

I find it interesting that 85% (estimated) or cars are AWD. Given the price difference ($6K, which looks high to me on a BEV — there are few additional components other than the extra motor), I’d have expected a lot fewer people opting for AWD.
Maybe this is temporary, i.e., all the people who wanted AWD couldn’t get it until recently; at any rate, it’ll be interesting what the split is going forward.
