Elon Musk to Receive Edison Award

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk will receive what’s largely recognized as one of the world’s premier accolades: Edison Achievement Award.

On April 29, Musk will officially receive the award, honoring him for his “continuous contribution to human-centered design, as well as his positive influence on creating entirely new market opportunities and inspiring future leaders and innovators worldwide.”

Clearly, Musk is deserving of this honor.

Frank Bonafilia, Executive Director of the Edison Awards, stated:

“Elon Musk is a true visionary of our time, and we could not be more honored to present him with the 2014 Edison Achievement Award. His intense desire to improve lives and make our world a better place through his abilities and accomplishments serve as living acknowledgment and embodiment of Thomas Edison’s values and principles.”

It is hilarious and ironic that Elon Musk would get the Edison Award for contributions which include the creation of Tesla Motors a company that is named after Edison’s bitter rival Tesla. It is good to know that Edison finally appreciates the contributions of Tesla after all these years.

Agreed. Plus wasn’t Edison much more focused on the money making aspect of his inventions vs. Tesla who was in it for the pure advancements of science and humanity.

Fitting though that Edison drove a BEV!

Yeah, that was my immediate reaction as well.

And I guess Thomas Edison would be happy with the award since the huge battery pack in Elon’s cars support his DC beliefs

But not the bruchless AC motor in the tesla

Martha Stewart?

Also, Edison is reputed to have passed a slip of paper to Henry Ford that said, “The electric car is dead.”
