Tesla Model S P85D Versus Nissan Skyline GTR NISMO – Drag Race Video

JUN 12 2015 BY ELECTRICCARSTV 9

Test and Tune night at Farmington Dragway (1/8th mile), 2015-04-17.

Both cars stock.

States the video description.

Clearly the Tesla Model S P85D is no match for the supercar that is the Nissan Skyline GTR NISMO, or is it?

Well, since this is a 1/8-mile run, the result is closer than you might think.

The GTR NISMO has just 600 HP, but it’s purpose-built for racing, so we expect it to win over the family sedan.

“well, since this is a 1/8-mile run, the result is closer than you might think.”

It is NOT. It is exactly what I expected…

Tesla is geared so low that it is designed to win in short races.

Most Tesla fans just don’t know anything about racing.

With that said, P85D is still an awesome car. But its fan just needs to give up on the idea that Tesla will win all the drag races…

I dont think it will win every drag race.

It simply accelerates quicker than any car up to legal speeds, and thats all that matters to me.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the Nissan GT-R NISMO is much, much faster 0 to 60 MPH than the Tesla Model S P85D. The Tesla does it in 3.2 seconds, while the Nissan does it in only 2.7 seconds. That’s a whopping 1/2 second difference. It’s not even close.

IMHO, THE critical advantage for the GT-R is the 1000 pounds less weight it is carrying vs the P85D. Simple physics with power being that close (and many of “us” think the Tesla is not allowed to put down all the power potential in those motors)…..the lighter car will accelerate faster….

Duh….

“…the lighter car will accelerate faster…”

Not if it has a significantly less powerful motor, it won’t.

A more accurate statement would be: The car with the higher power/weight ratio will accelerate faster, all else being equal. Of course, “all else being equal” will never happen when comparing a BEV to a gas guzzler.

I suppose.

The tesla is a much faster than virtually anything else out there. Gas is dead.

Spoken like a true Tesla fan club idiot…

I guess you can’t read either.
