Tesla Launches Models S, X In South Korea

It’s now officially official.

Both the Tesla Model S and Model X are now available to reserve in South Korea.

According to Korea Herald:

“Tesla Motors has begun taking online reservations here for its electric cars, Model S, Model X, and Model 3, the company said Aug. 19, making its sales operation in Korea official for first time.”

Reservation fees vary by model:

  • Model S – 2 million won ($1,800)
  • Model X – 5 million won ($4,500)
  • Model 3 – 1 million won ($900)

Tesla released a brief statement on the Model 3 to Korea Herald:

“Korean customers have already shown a great interest in Tesla through reservations for Model 3.”

Though reservations can be made for all models now, none of the vehicles are available for test drives in South Korea just yet. Tesla says the Model S will arrive for testing first towards the end of this year. Model X will come along in the beginning of 2017.

How much have they devalued their currency? Everyone is a millionaire?

1 million won is basically 1 million cents.

So, one thousand won equals one dollar.

When I spent time there for engineering school, I referred to prices in kilowon. Nobody thought it was funny.

Perfect timing. VW/Audi are gonzo.
