A number of new owners have been invited to collect their new cars today at the Tesla Shop in Tsuen Wan. A member of the ChargedHK group estimated that there are about 10 Model S P85Ds  being collected.

Although the P90D was announced even before the P85D arrives in the city, this has not tuned down the insane level of excitement for these new owners.

Friends of mine vacationing in Hong Kong, said they saw at least one Model S, while there. Pretty cool. 🙂

And yet Tesla still refuse to sell to other RHD counties like New Zealand.

The UK, Japan and Australia would disagree with you.

The reason is rather that the EV market in New Zealand is so small that it’s not even worth to stop by to unload a couple of cars on the way.

EV Sales Blog shows 560 Model S have been sold in Hong Kong in 2015.

According to EV Sales:

“The Hong Kong EV Market continues on fire, translated in an EV Share of 2.58%, the third highest in the world, only behind the Netherlands and Norway.”

EV Sales Blog gives terrible estimate. Check out min instead :http://lockyep.blogspot.hk/2015/07/auto-opinions-hong-kongs-ev-development.html

Okay Locky’

The Locky website estimates 1800 Model S on the road.

I believe the 1800 number is probably closer than EV Sales 460.

Musk has been quoted as saying sales are “excellent” in Hong Kong. They must be, because Tesla is also reported to have hired an additional 50 employees in Hong Kong. Tesla must have the car sales to justify that.

EV Sales reports that 177 plug-ins were sold in Latvia in 2014. I have another source that claims that over 200 plug-ins were sold in just the fourth quarter alone in Latvia/2014.

EV Sales Blog apparently like to err on the side of caution which is Okay, but to get the full picture on plug-in sales you have to check out other sources.

Even in Asia the reporting is piecemeal or non-existent. It’s hard to believe, for example, that there are no EVs being sold in a place like Taiwan ?

Likewise, it would be interesting to know how many Nisan Leaf have been sold in Mexico since Nisan started selling there several months ago.
