Tesla CEO Elon Musk Goes Wing Walking – Video

Went for a nice wing walk. What could possibly go wrong? Photo by my lovely wife @talulahrm

Which major automotive CEO isn’t afraid of heights?  Or death?

Apparently in his downtime, Tesla and Space X CEO Elon Musk has decided doing a little “wing walking” with wife Talulah Riley is a good way to pass the time – with the grainy results to his Instagram account, while some bonus footage was also put out in a quick news story by ABC News (hat tip top sven).

No B-roll was available of Tesla shareholders watching their equity position out for an afternoon of excitement.

Balls in your court Carlos Ghosn at Nissan.

Below: Some short video footage of Talulah also giving it a go!

Here I am, wing walking! #wingwalking A video posted by Talulah Riley (@talulahrm) on

Hat tip to Chris Paine, Josh B and sven!

Aint no way he done that!
If he did, I, and a few of us investors, would like to have a little chat with him…

    1. kdawg says:

I’m sure his insurance company went nuts.

      1. kdawg says:

oh, he doesn’t have anything on Richard Branson.

        Just 1 of many stunts..

    2. sven says:

Way. Here’s a news clip of Elon’s wing walking stunt that also includes a short clip of him catching major air while kite boarding.

      1. Jay Cole says:

Had not seen that one sven. Nice clip…will add to story! /thanks

        1. kdawg says:

Speaking of rich CEOs kiteboarding, Branson happens to hold a record in this sport.

“On 1st July 2012, Sir Richard Branson achieved the World Record as the Oldest Person to kitesurf from England to France.”

There’s also some nice NSFW photos of him kiteboarding w/a naked supermodel on his back. (Not that we should be comparing to Elon’s model wife)

          1. Doug (dhanson865) says:

I’ll agree he had a model on his back but I don’t think the term supermodel applies to her.

She has done professional modeling but she doesn’t even have a listing in Wikipedia.

            1. LuStuccc says:

              She is an actress.

      2. Boris says:

Sven, I don’t think that’s Elon kite boarding in that video, it looks like a random kite boarding video, I believe if it was him, the TV announcer would actually call it out that it is him on that video…

        1. sven says:

You make a good point. I think you’re right. That kite boarder has some mad skillz.

          1. Anon says:

            Yo. Don’t be mis-representin’…

    3. RexxSee says:

      To Driverguy01
If he didn’t had this bold personality, you would have invested in nothing because he would not have been successful at all. So deal with it!

  2. David Murray says:

That’s just foolish and irresponsible. The world still needs Elon Musk. How horrible would it be if he died from some stupid stunt like that.

    1. RexxSee says:

some are less shy than others..

    2. no comment says:

put down the any rand; “atlas shrugged” was a cartoon; there are no john galts in the real world, human progress is through collective effort of many, most of whom do their work without publicity or limelight. the reason why we have a culture with outsized executive pay is because there is a belief in the “superstar” executive, without which the company would fail to succeed.

  3. kdawg says:

“Balls in your court Carlos Ghosn at Nissan.”

I’m betting Carlos would not even do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

(note some other Nissan execs did it though)

  4. Scott says:

So, the real news here is that he confirmed that he and Talulah are married again!

  5. Koenigsegg says:

    Talulah is gorgeous

  6. no comment says:

these elon musk publicity stunts are getting ridiculous. wait, they already were: they are getting insane; no, better yet: these elon musk publicity stunts are getting to be ludicrous.

  7. RexxSee says:

Love this guy! A successful risk taker in business and a risk taker in real life! Holistic drive forward.

I used to skydive/basejump when I was younger. Loved the adrenalin rushes!

  8. David Stone says:

CEO or not, he is a dad and sould not take such risks.
I used to do crazy stuff, now I am a little boy’s dad and owe to him to stick around.

    1. no comment says:

you don’t know what precautions musk took. i find it hard to believe that he undertook this stunt without considering what could go wrong and what he would do if something did go wrong.

as it turns out, “dare devils” are not reckless people. instead, they are people who habitually do more planning than the average person.

    2. RexxSee says:

So you will teach your son to never take any risks in life.

    3. Steven says:

As a dad, I’ve taken my daughter to school on the back of a motorcycle so many times, she can’t bring her helmet in for show and tell anymore.

Teach your children to live, and they will celebrate your life when you die.

  9. Greg says:

Actually, statistically more dangerous on the drive to the airport.

    1. Actually, that is false. General aviation has a much higher incident, accident and fatality rate than automobile travel.

      – a pilot who studies GA accident causes and statistics

  10. Anon says:

Glad to see him having some fun for a change. His birthday sucked. 🙁

  11. I wonder how long it took him to pick the bugs out of his teeth.

  12. Chris says:

Next year he should join me for some hang gliding. Now that is really flying.

  13. pjwood1 says:

He gets to do this, and we can’t turn off traction control?

  14. Pushmi-Pullyu says:

Hmmm, I’m not sure that vehicle has a five-star crash test rating.

  15. Jonathan says:

Thanks Elon. I’ll consider this even more salt in the wound for the life of my best friend and former Tesla employee who died in a plane crash while working for you. Perhaps one day your ego with get the best of you

  16. Jonathan, can you elaborate on why you think Elon Musk is responsible for this:

“The plane had flown about a mile northwest after taking off in heavy fog from Palo Alto Airport when it veered sharply to the west. The Cessna hit high-tension lines and the 60-foot transmission tower.”

Pilot error in bad weather is the #1 killer of GA pilots.

    1. Jonathan says:

Hmmm…. Not responsible but just to note

      1. Most companies do not allow employees to use personal planes for business travel, Tesla should have done the same,

      2. There was immense pressure from Elon for them to get to LA for model s testing that next morning.

      3. He was a total jerk at the memorial ceremony. Picked up the mic for 10 seconds and said “I’m no good at these things, I’m handing this over so and so…” Then went back to his office and left everyone out there.

      4. He donated a measely $1000 to the scholarship fund set up for my friend’s memory.

      1. JH says:

Those rules usually get in place *after* an accident. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Second, it is always the pilots responsibility. Can not be given away. 3 and for I have no real opinion about, but yes, its known that his social skills aren’t exactly top notch.
