Police Chase Driver Of Stolen Chevrolet Volt

JUN 25 2015 BY ERIC LOVEDAY 11

Police eventually apprehended a driver of a stolen Chevrolet Volt after a brief chase in Los Angeles County, California.

According to Daily News:

A man driving a stolen car led authorities on a chase today [Tuesday June 23] from the Fontana area to Arcadia, where he surrendered after driving onto a street that ended in a cul-de-sac.

The chase began about 8:20 a.m., when Fontana police tried to stop the Chevrolet Volt, which had been reported stolen, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The chase eventually went onto the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway and into Los Angeles County, and the CHP’s Los Angeles traffic office was notified about 9 a.m.

During the chase, the driver passed through a gas station, a common occurrence for Volt owners.  Drive through, but no need to fill up.

The story continues:

“About 9:20 a.m., the driver entered Loma Lisa Lane, which is off of Foothill Boulevard, and came to a stop at the end of the cul-de-sac, where the motorist surrendered, the CHP reported. A woman passenger was taken into custody for questioning.”

The driver is expected to be charged with felony evading and vehicle theft.

UPDATE:  It appears the Daily News isn’t totally up on GM’s compact car lineup as the vehicle in question turns out to actually be a Chevy Cobalt (hat tip to Leland!)

It would be hilarious if this douchebag criminal looked down at the display, saw she was about to run out of battery, and ultimately decided to surrender to the cops as she would have run out of juice.

Agreed. Could a Volt even get stolen without the key fob? How would that work?

That’s definitely a Cobalt.

Not a Volt. I saw the chase live and knew immediately it was a Cobalt.

Yep, that is totally the front end of a Cobalt.

They stole the wrong hybrid-electric vehicle.

Should have stole this one:

Looks like it was built on the holodeck.

Where is the OnStar vehicle theft deterrant when you need it?

Wow. Not even a Volt.
