Rolls-Royce Considering Plug-In Hybrid Car For Chinese Market
JAN 28 2014 BY ERIC LOVEDAY
First it was Bentley. Now, it’s Rolls-Royce.
Soon to join the plug-in bandwagon is luxury automaker Rolls-Royce.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce, stated:
“It wouldn’t make sense to introduce a diesel.”
Otvos is referring to China there, saying diesels just don’t make sense since Chinese buyers have no interest in them.
Instead, Rolls-Royce intends to do a PHEV for the Chinese market.
“For me, the direction of plug-in hybrids is probably more the direction to go with Rolls-Royce motor cars.”
There are no concrete plans in place for the Rolls-Royce PHEV right now, but at least the automaker’s CEO is choosing the right direction for the company by saying PHEV is the “direction to go with Rolls-Royce motors cars.”
