Renovo Motors will reveal to the public for the first time ever its electric “supercar” coupe prototype at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas in January.

Per Renovo:

“Using a factory-modified Shelby American CSX9000 rolling chassis (“Cobra Daytona Coupe”), Renovo’s eponymous coupe features twin mid-mounted sequential axial-flux motors producing more than 370 kW (500 hp) and 1,000 lb-ft (1,356 N·m) of torque, with a 0-60 mph time of less than 3.4 seconds. Top speed is more than 120 mph (193 km/h).”

“The Renovo Coupe is powered by a patent-pending 740 volt lithium-ion battery pack.”

Why the public reveal?  Well, the coupe can be ordered now.  Renovo says that production will begin soon, with first buyers expected to receive the electric Renovo sometime in 2015.

Christopher Heiser, CEO of Renovo Motors, stated:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be attending the Consumer Electronics Show and to have the opportunity to display the Renovo Coupe alongside all of NVIDIA’s amazing new automotive technology. CES is the perfect stage for us to show the world what can be done with electric vehicles.”

What’s the price?  Over half a million dollars.

Looks a lot like, well almost exactly like, the ’65 Jaguar XKE. One of the best designs ever of a car.

Kind of points out once again just how awesome Tesla is. The P85D can outrace it, outdistance it, carry over twice the amount of people and cargo, use the supercharger network, AND it does all that at less than 1/3 of the cost.

Yeah, I kind of questioned what they meant by “First American all-electric supercar” too.

Because they’re not even making second place, I do believe.

It *looks* like sex on wheels, and while that’s not a bad thing, it’s the only thing they’ve got going for them over a Tesla. They are so toast.

This is a track car, not a tourer. The Tesla P85 is a great car, but it would overheat before even completing a lap at some racetracks. It also felt heavier in the turns than a massive Porsche Panamera. Unless the new P85D has solved the heat issues and has suddenly lost 2000 lbs, it will not be a serious track car.

This Renovo is a lightweight track car, with a quick-charge battery. I think it would outrace a Tesla.

This is not that far from what first-time-builder Michael Kadie did like 8 or 9 years ago. Didn’t cost $500,000. Too Funny.

the renovo has a prettier Dashboard though 🙂

Seems kind of silly that with Tesla’s open patents, they did not adopt the Tesla Supercharger format for power? Sure they would have had to “buy into” access there but that could easily have been bundled into a $500k price point.

For me, I get my P85D in early February 2015.
