AUG 27 2013 BY ERIC LOVEDAY
The Renault Zoe is a fleet operators dream electric machine.
That’s basically what’s being announced here in awarding the Zoe a 2013 Techie award in the category of Best Green Development.
The Techies are awards geared fully towards “technological innovation in corporate marketplace, helping fleets operate in a cleaner, more cost-effective and efficient way.”
Voted on by BusinessCar, the Zoe captured the Techie win for its five “world premier” features and 60 patents.
Most notable is the Zoe’s Chameleon charger. With this setup, Zoe can charge at rates of 3kW to 43kW, which enables it to fully recharge in as little as 30 minutes.
BusinessCar Editor Paul Barke, had this to say of Zoe winning a Techie award:
“The Renault ZOE is a huge boost to the electric vehicle sector because it’s clearly the most attractive model to enter this fledgling marketplace. Renault’s commitment to and investment in zero tailpipe emission vehicles is helping fleets meet their environmental and cost objectives in terms of running their vehicles, and deserves commendation.”
Phil York, Renault UK’s Marketing Director, stated:
“ZOE represents cutting edge technology in a truly stylish package, offering everybody the opportunity to ‘go electric’ at the same price as diesel-engined alternatives.”
The electric Zoe is available in the UK with a starting price of only £13,995 ($21,923 US) after the UK’s Plug-in Car Grant. Monthly battery rental starts at £70 ($45). Zoe is 5-star Euro NCAP safe, is stylish, rather zippy and certainly deserving of its Techie award.
