Renault Set New Electric Car Sales Record In March

APR 18 2018 BY MARK KANE 3

In March, Renault for the very first time sold more than 5,000 electric cars, which is also 25% more one than year ago.

Deliveries of both Renault ZOE and Renault Kangoo Z.E. were very high:

  • Renault ZOE – 4,430 (up 18%)
  • Renault Kangoo Z.E. – 712 (up 104%)

In the case of ZOE, this is a new record-setting sale month since introduction of the car in late 2012.

For the first three months of 2018, Renault sold nearly 10,700 electric cars (up 6% year-over-year).

ZOE represents more than 3.3% share of total Renault passenger car sales in Europe, while Kangoo Z.E. took almost 2.5% among light commercial vehicles. Because Renault sells EVs mostly only in Europe, the same share globally is at around 2%.

The Kangoo has limited supply, and a long waiting list.
We’re thinking about changing about 75% of our ICE small vans.
I think many companies are doing the same. As a company we tend to buy a lot of cars at once, but that is hard with small (any) EV vans.
If they are on a waiting list for å year, and before we get them Ford, VW or another company start to sell a significantly better van.. .
The company don’t like risk, and they don’t like to get a lousy deal.
With good supply, sales with also rise.

For the first time I actually see a competitive price for an EV van. Although you still have to rent battery, but if you are leasing the car that shouldn’t be a big issue. I am very happy for Renault. Currently they are the only ones that actually want to sell their EVs!

Two years!!!! waiting Overlease to change my battery rented in Spain (now 60%SOH and would be changed under 75%) and they only say i’ve got to wait. There is no battery to me, neither my beautiful Fluence ZE.
I cannot recommend Renault EV, they dont care customers at all and they dont replace battery as they must by legal lease contract.
