This information was reported at the International Electric Vehicle Expo in Jeju Island, South Korea.

At a press conference during the event, Park said:

“We push to achieve the annual sales target, while at the same time keeping our leading status in the EV market here. Being a leader is to lead the market in the right way by developing new, sustainable and affordable models.”

Renault Samsung brought three EV models to the expo including its best seller, theĀ SM3 Z.E., and the Twizy all-electric, super-compact two-seater.

Only about 3,000 total EVs were sold in South Korea last year, so the company already holds one-third of the sales. But EVs only made up 0.2 percent of overall vehicles sold.

I’m sure they are at least better than North Korea. Gotta celebrate that.
