Renault Samsung Hopes to Double Electric Car Sales This Year In South Korea
Renault Samsung Vice President Park Dong-hoon reported that Renault Samsung Motors Co. has set a goal to sell 2,000 EVs this year in South Korea, compared to around 1,000 last year.
This information was reported at the International Electric Vehicle Expo in Jeju Island, South Korea.
At a press conference during the event, Park said:
“We push to achieve the annual sales target, while at the same time keeping our leading status in the EV market here. Being a leader is to lead the market in the right way by developing new, sustainable and affordable models.”
Only about 3,000 total EVs were sold in South Korea last year, so the company already holds one-third of the sales. But EVs only made up 0.2 percent of overall vehicles sold.
