Renault uses LG Chem batteries, so can we expect range increase like with other LG customers (Chevrolet, Ford)?..
Sounds unreasonable to continue to produce underperforming batteries “only for Renault”.

I’m sure of it. The question is how much they will bump up capacity. The Zoe now has 22 kWh, two less than the original Leaf. Since the cells are, I belive, the same size, this means that the pack is about 10% smaller.
This would imply a first bump to 28 kWh, the equivalent of the 30 kWh Leaf.
A second question is whether they would also improve performance. The Zoe has always been much slower than the Leaf (13 seconds vs. about 10), despite the similar size batteries.

No, the usable capacity of both packs is about the same – Renault’s 22kWh is usable capacity, whereas Nissan’s 24kWh is total capacity.

Ford and Chevrolet ready end 2016, so you could expect Ghosn will show Zoe with new battery in Paris Salon ( Oktober 2016).

Or in Geneve (march 2016). Anyway for r240 motor they have made press release only few months in advance.

Think Paris is better, home game. Bolt should start production in Oktober and US delivery December. Ioniq i could not imagine much earlier, first Hyundai will sell the hybrid, than the PHEV and finally the BEV.
Renault could show a 40 kWh Zoe in Paris with AC 22 kW and CCS up to 80 kW, and finally Nissan a new Leaf in Los Angeles Autoshow in November.

They have to make an announcement before May. Then the 1st 3 year rental contracts are running out. To show these customers a way to the larger battery, an offering should be announced in that timeframe. I think Geneve in March 2016 is optimal.

My informations are telling me that every customer can upgrade to the new battery within the standard rental contract. We well see.
