Porsche Macan plug-in hybrid version is coming as Porsche President & CEO Matthias Müller already confirmed that at the Geneva Motor Show.

“We’re working on it. We’ll have it in 1 or 2 years.”

It will be fourth electrified model for the brand, after Panamera, Cayenne and 918 Spyder.

Last year, over 75% of the 45,000 customers that bought Macan were new to Porsche. It will be interesting to see how many new customers will be attracted by the plug-in version in 2016 or 2017.

It’s expected that the drivetrain will be similar to Cayenne S E-Hybrid, but no firm details are available yet.

“In the case of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, engineers have paired a 3.0-liter six-cylinder supercharged engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined system output of 416 PS and 590 Nm of torque. The motor gets its power from a 10.8 kWh li-ion battery, enabling a pure electric range of 36 km with a top-speed of 125 km/h. Porsche claims an efficiency of 29.4 km/l with CO2 emissions of only 79 g/km.

The Macan, currently offered with four- and six-cylinder petrol engines and a six-cylinder diesel engine, would benefit from a similar setup.”

Man, Porsche never delivers on time. We’ll have to wait for this forever.

Porsche never delivers on time and is so overpriced. I think I’ll get a Tesla instead.

Hopefully they don’t waste any extra time trying to develop another color other than black.

The red interior can go.

Oh well, no battery spec. With Audi Q7 going ~17.3, maybe there’s hope for Porsche. Then again, they hold the “low bar”, with the Cayenne achieving only 14 miles, on 10kwh.

The above makes it tough to think material electric range will come from Porsche, before they develop a body that can house at least 3 times what they currently use.

Well, at least its 11 kwh. It would have been horrible if it was like 3 or something. But now you can at least go to the store and back.

lol who wants this

Hybrid Macan is perfect for us. More power and the plug-in gives access to the high occupancy lane. Those who have not owned a plug in don’t understand the 12-15 mile range. That does not include extra mileage from regeneration braking and going downhill. Now about the cost…

Not HOV compliant …in California at least.

Even the plug-in Prius with 11 miles of range is HOV compliant in CA. It will get a green HOV sticker, same as Volt and BMW i3 with REX.

You should really check your facts prior to posting.

It takes much more than battery range and size to get an HOV sticker in CA. Can you say 2011 to mid 2012 Chevy Volt???

The Macan SEH (like the Cayenne SEH) will NOT be HOV compliant in CA unless they make some major changes.
