Over 50,000 All-Electric Cars Sold In Europe In The First Half Of 2016, Sales Leaderboard

More than 50,000 all-electric cars were registered in the first half of this year in Europe.

Avere-France puts the Europe total at 50,705, which is 11% higher than a year ago.

Market share for BEVs in Europe now stands at 0.56%.

For the first time France become #1 market at 15,068, ahead of Norway, which fell back to 12,216, thanks to a surging PHEV segment balancing the market.

Third place continue to be the UK (5,609), a few hundred above Germany (5,265).

  • Netherlands – 2,012
  • Sweden – 1572
  • Switzerland – 1,523
  • Spain – 1,456
  • Belgium – 1,160
  • Italy – 916
  • Denmark – 271
  • rest of the Europe – 1,478

Among best selling models (data comes from EAFO) we see the Renault ZOE in #1. Second is the Nissan LEAF and third best goes to the Tesla Model S.

One of the thing we can learn about that is when you cut to much abruptly incentives, the market share of BEV diminish very fast.
When the french minister of ecology was auditioned by the parliament, she said that cuting off incentives to fast is the worst decision. France have do continue the BONUS/MALUS system.

It will be interesting to observe the German market for the next semester. But in Germany incentives for PHEV is 3,000€ and for BEV is 4,000€, so I think that won’t change very much. The PHEV will dominate the market like in UK.

the BEV revolution is in the coming…2016-17!!!possibly in Central Europe,Russia,China…people need something positive in this screwd up,very cynical world!!!
