Norway Plug-In Electric Car Sales Up By Nearly 41% In August

In Norway, plug-in electric passenger cars had about 20.9% market share in August – the bulk of them (17.2%) were all-electric cars.

In total, sales grew last month by nearly 41% to 2,634 (2,166 BEVs), which doesn’t include 32 vans, and a total of 575 used imported plug-ins.

The most popular model in Norway is the Volkswagen e-Golf, although Tesla Model S with 3,116 registrations managed to hold second spot in overall ranking.

The Nissan LEAF is in 3rd with 2,118 registrations, while the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV ends up in 4th with 1,142 tallies though the first 8 months.

In total, over 22,000 new plug-in cars were sold in Norway in the last eight months and below we present sales ranking by brands in both BEV and PHEV/EREV categories:

Norway is such a clean country. They don’t allow billboards so the landscape remains quite beautiful and this influx of EVs had got to be cleaning up the air.

Even their graffiti is nice. I took a bunch of pics on Olso last year of all kinds of graffiti-art. Too many to share here, but you can probably google some.

I wonder how many plug ins are on the road there total now? Also how many ice cars?

About 2,5 million ice cars. Apprx 70000 BEVs. A small portion of the ICE are hybrids

Oh, that’s right, Scandinavians are a thoughtful and sensible people.

Close to 3%. Cool.

Low range cars are most popular.

It’s because they’re about as expensive as a gas-powered VW Golf there.

Not because they subsidize them at all, but because they tax the cars a lot based on emissions. Zero emissions vehicles in contrast, don’t get taxed at all.
