Nissan Trademarks IMS & IMQ: Possible Electric Crossovers

DEC 22 2018 BY MARK KANE 12

Nissan IMx concept will start a whole series of IM concepts?

According to the latest news, on December 10 Nissan registered in the European Intellectual Property Office two trademarks for automotive use – the IMS and IMQ – which are probably related to the Nissan IMx concept and Nissan IMx KURO concept.

The IM means Intelligent Mobility, so the IM_ could become a template for more electric concepts – the following models would get separate letters like S and Q. We will know for sure in the next couple of motor shows.

It’s expected that Nissan will introduce the production version of an electric crossover or SUV within two years, once the new platform for BEVs is completed.

The IMx is equipped with dual-motor all-wheel drive (320 kW, 720 Nm) and offered range of up to 600 km (373 miles) of range in JC08 (which means about 225 miles/360 km translated to real world/EPA driving).

These are brainchild of Mr. Carlos Ghosn.
With that gentleman being in jail, these vehicles will never see the light of the day.

saikawa gang will kill it. They are showing it just to discourage people from buying Tesla EVs.

Agreed.

Nissan has nothing without Carlos.

Agreed but I won’t consider Nissan unless and until they institute a proper battery TMS system for their EV(s).

They may be the brain child of Ghosn but the show will go on with or without out him…
I am willing to bet 90 percent of potential car buyers no nothing of this and most who do won’t care…

Strongly agree. Plus, consider how we’re endlessly telling each other on this site how it’s imperative for car companies to embrace EVs. That’s as true of Nissan as it is for any other company. If they threw out anything with Ghosn’s fingerprints on it, they’d be much further behind in the EV race than they are now.

Or to show off and make people think they are better then Tesla.

IMx hurts my eyes.

Hopefully your eyes will recover from the glare from the IMx, Industry leading, “innovation that excites”.

True to form, Nissan “Intelligent Mobility” strikes once again.

Mobilized tears ducts.

I need a “Kuro” for all this weeping. 😂

Honestly, I don’t want Nissan to make more expensive EV.
The car in the photos look expensive to manufacture.
Just keep it ugly and make it cheaper with a lot more range.

Production cars are never as cool or weird as concept ones…
I am all for the smaller cheaper BEVs but I think those are only destined for the EU and China…
We will be spoon fed huge Inefficient SUVs and Trucks…
The i3 is probably our only hope for a small BEV but the price tag is too much for me…

At the moment I simply cannot imagine that Hiroto Saikawa will push hard to accelerate the EV game of Nissan. At least not as much as Carlos Ghosn did. But obviously it’s too soon to make such a judgement already. First of all, in 2019 we will have to see if the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance will survive (or not). Stormy days ahead?

That thing looks like it’s already gone through crash testing and this is what was left….ugh.
