Nissan LEAF – OceanBlue Or MorningSky Blue?

Via Twitter, Nissan wonders, what’ll it be?

Which color do you prefer: OceanBlue or MorningSky Blue? #LEAF

Yet To Be Officially Announced, But Here Is The 2016 Nissan LEAF Color Palette

Only a few changes to the LEAF were implemented for 2015.  Among the changes was the dropping of OceanBlue (officially Blue Ocean) in favor of MorningSky Blue.  The color difference is minor, but surely everyone has a preference.  So, which color do you prefer?

For the 2016 model year, it looks like neither will be offered, as “Deep Blue Pearl” is being introduced and MorningSky Blue is out.  Nissan is expected to announce those color changes (as well as a longer range option for the SV/SL trim levels) soon.

Speaking as a man, I can’t tell much difference in the color. Also, I’m not much of a blue-car person, but if I had to buy a blue car, I’d want something darker & metallic.

    What was the question again?

    1. vdiv says:

I am a blue car person and Nissan has a “deep blue pearl” lined up, at least according to this site:

      1. Jelloslug says:

I agree, the Deep Blue Pearl looks much better than either of those colors.

        1. Sublime says:

Definitely. The original blue was terrible, but they somehow found a way to make it worse in 2015.

          The 2016 Blue is nice.

  2. Someone out there says:

I would say MorningSky is nicer.

    1. ffbj says:

It seems like a richer color to me too.

  3. David Murray says:

I really can’t tell the difference.

  4. John Hollenberg says:

I have (and prefer) Ocean Blue, a more refined color.

  5. Doug says:

    Ocean Blue definitely!

  6. John F says:

I want the one that glows in the dark!

    1. kdawg says:

Or the one that repels all liquids.

  7. evnow says:

Nothing beats the original iconic blue. What blue was that ?

    1. Sublime says:

Yes. It’s very similar to Subaru’s World Rally Blue, which I like.

    2. Sam EV says:

Yeah, I like the original one in real-life. On my screen MorningSky looks best.

  8. Rick Danger says:

It’s nice to see Nissan has their priorities straight 🙂

  9. Alonso Perez says:

I just can’t believe you still can’t get a green Leaf.

    1. Nix says:

Ha! Could always go with one of these “leaf” wraps:–1062

  10. Nix says:

Which color comes with the 200 mile range battery pack? That’s the color I would prefer.

Otherwise, also showing my bias for deeper colors:

    1. Deep Blue Pearl
    2. MorningSky Blue
    3. Blue Ocean

    1. Mister G says:

200 mile range is the important option..who cares what color it is

  11. Campisi says:

Ocean Blue, it’s an unapologetic colour. Deep Blue Pearl is one of those colours meant to please dealer networks, different from the other “colours” available while being darkened and drained of vitality sufficient to blend in with every other “colour” on offer. It’ll better appeal to the sort of buyer who ultimately doesn’t much care.

  12. Picky says:

Just to clarify, MorningSky Blue is the more light blue one to the left. Not the one to the right as the text under the image suggests.

  13. ModernMarvelFan says:

    What is the difference?

Morning blue will just look like an Ocean Blue in 3 years under the intense power of sun light bleaching…

    1. Pushmi-Pullyu says:

      Shades of difference…

  14. Pushmi-Pullyu says:

Most colors that are not just another shade of gray are good.

Personally, I prefer bright colors, so between the two I’d definitely choose MorningSky Blue.

Electric blue would be even better! Like this Tesla Roadster:

  15. Nicholas says:

The light blue may speak to women but harms the image of the car, I feel.

    1. Picky says:

Yes, women really do like the color of my MorningSky Blue Leaf, and I like women so that worked out just fine. 😉

Personally, I think it looks great in the sunshine and the color could even been a little bit brighter.

Anyway, just like the old French racing cars was blue, all fully electric cars should also be blue.
Just look at all the blue EV logos put on most BEV/PHEV cars, electricity is apperanty blue according to the car designers. 🙂

Btw, MorningSky Blue is called Sonic Blue in Europe, but has the same color code “RBE”.
